When I received the item I was amazed by the size of the box. I did not realise it was contained within a display case (the picture above shows it in the display case minus the lid). For collectors like myself this is a must buy. The fact that the item is uniquely blood spattered, that it comes in an excellent well made display case with a hidden compartment for the connector cable and that each chainsaw is numbered and limited to just 50,000 world wide, it really is an excellent item.
I have nearly completed the game using the controller and although it has some excellent features, it does not help gameplay, in fact if anything I found it a hindrance. The toggle buttons for aiming and moving around are tiny and very awkward to use, the L2 and R2 buttons are nearly impossible to use in the midst of a fight. At the part of the game where you've rescued the Presidents daughter I kept accidentally hitting R2 with my knuckle (R1 is on a handle, as is L1 and R2 and L2 are situated on the chainsaw "body"). The R2 button makes the President's daughter wait or follow you. It is game over when she gets carried away by a cult member and guess what kept happening, yep, he kept getting carried away in the midst of battle when instead of following Leon she would wait or end up getting accidentally shot.
The start button means that in order to press it you have remove your hand from the controller completely, as it is featured right up the far end of the controller. There are segments in the game that require quick reflexes of the varying action buttons, this is nearly impossible to do without several failed attempts.
A feature supposed to exist is that when the controller is horizontal Leon puts down his weapon and when it is raised, the weapon is raised.

i bought this ages ago at £15:99 and i think it was worth every penny then, now that its £4:99, you honestly wont be let down.

the controller has many cool features that push it beyond just a normal controller, the case for one, will make it a brilliant collectors item. It has a rip cord with a chain saw effect, (sounds, vibrations the lot) and i spent at least 15 minutes just looking at it, cause it does look awesome. Every blood splatter is hand done, and none of the controllers are exactly the same, that and you have a plaque on the side with the controllers 'limited edition' number (only 50,000 were ever made so you could have a part of a relatively small collectors item). The controller also has an in-built motion detector, meaning you can become more involved with the game, giving an added depth to the normal gameplay.

The controller itself does lack in the gamplay aspect though, it can be tricky to get used to the new layout of buttons, and the motion dectector is a bit tempermental untill you practice alot, but on this note i wouldnt recommend using this controller for long, hard gaming sessions, as it WILL hurt after a while. This is the only thing that drags this controller down but saying all this im still as happy as i was when i first bought it, and even if you dont need another controller, its a brilliant collectors item as well. Any fan of resident evil 4 should buy it especially at this price. (i might even buy another one:D)

A must have item for your gaming artilery, Fantastic controller that comes to us in a fantastic display case, as let's face it for the normal price of £35 that's where it would have remained. but at less than a fiver this baby yearns to be played. The build quality is first class and while we all know it will not sit in the hand like a coventional controller, (was there anyone who thought it would), it remains pleasant to use. Amazon deliver a £35 contoller for less than a couple of pints...buy it...now...

Say what you want about the control's layout - yes it is a tad awkward - but this controller is still a impressive bit of craftsmanship. From the blood splatter, to the 'start' button actually being assigned to a rip-cord mechanism, this is a toy for any fan of the Resident Evil games or the horror genre in general. The design is so devilishly impressive, that it even comes in its own display case for you to show it off in its full glory (though I wouldn't recommend using it as a centre piece for the kitchen table, unless you truly are the die hard horror fan... in that case knock yourself out).

It's unlikely that this would replace anyone's standard PS2 controller, but at least it'll make for a nifty novelty item and a pretty cool display piece. So if you're an enthusiastic horror fan... get it now!

P.S. I was also surprised to find that this controller is compatible with PCs too (via a bonus USB cable included), so make note that this isn't exclusive only to PS2 owners.

Firstly, this is such an incredibly detailed controller that it's a work of art in it's own right, you could spend hours alone just inspecting the blood markings which are unique on every controller. There are some major improvements on the gamecube version such as the motion sensor and the chainsaw noise being started with a rip cord rather than a button to add to the realism of the chainsaw model. The display case feels a bit cheap though and taking out the controller with intentions of putting it back in can be awkward, I found the lid doesn't stay on as well as when I first took it off and putting the cable back into the draw can be quite a challenge. As for how it handles during game play...well, you'll have to take quite some time getting used to where everything is but the controller doesn't feel as bulky too hold as you might think from looking at it. My main problem is the motion sensor that allows you to get Leon to raise and lower his weapon by raising or lowering the controller, I found that it was overly sensitive to unintentional movement but you'll have to check with other owners of this controller as I'm not 100% sure if this problem is a characteristic of my controller or all of them. All in all a great item, so get yourself one asap because like the gamecube one they are only making it for so long then they will be very difficult to get hold of once production has stopped.
