Tomandandy are no stranger to scoring films, some of their notable work is Arlington road, The Mothman Prophecies and The Strangers just to name a few, they have also worked with U2 on their Zoo Tv project. So resident Evil Afterlife is just the latest in a long line of film scoring and like most of their other projects they have found the right mix for the fourth movie in the series.
starting off with a piece of music called "Tokyo" which is used as the movie begins, it's a big number with powerful beats and is used to great affect in the film in fact listening back to The Score you can almost relive the movie as you know what parts the music is taken from such as "Los Angeles" which is used as they fly over the Hollywood sign(which is damaged)in Los Angeles ! some of the pieces are also like a bit of trance such as "Discovery" and then you have a big industrial sounding piece "Axeman" which is probably the heaviest thing on the score that has big beats and a big sounding guitar part complete with breathing effects and if you've seen the film you now how well it is used.
There is loads to like on this Soundtrack and unlike previous Resident Evil soundtracks the music works much better than having various metal/bands having a snippet of a song played, the only band music to feature in the movie is A Perfects Circles "The outsider"(apocalypse mix by Danny lohner)it does not feature on the soundtrack but is included on a Perfect Circle's aMotion DVD as a bonus disc of remixes.
