Interesting compilation of Resident Evil series music.
Contains tracks from Resident Evil (remake), Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica, Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 4.
So begins...
The music from remake is about questions, not answers. Why remake and not original? Why these tracks (short, dark, dramatic and terrifiing only)? What about a little contrast? Where are the calm, melodic piano rolls (like "Meeting Rebecca", "Long Lost Friend", "Save Room" from original)? Or suspense mood tracks ("Ivies' Domain", "Vacant Flat", "Flooded Corridor" like in RE Remix)? Why is this not an option?
Resident Evil 2 shows better test-probe results than RE remake (I have this OST actually). It's tracks more than partically contains original atmosphere of the title, but... if only it has my own favorites ("The Marshaling Yard (both)" or "The Library" for example)... Nevermind, I like it.
I don't really have the full OST of RE3:N (and don't really care of...) yet..., but it's composition choice is better than nothing and unlike remake part it has "that needed contrast". Good.
I was surprised to find out that the best and the most melodious part of the compilation is RE-C:V, and now I'm even going to buy it's full OST. "Piano Roll", "Lacrymal", "The Suspended Doll", "The Theme of Nosferatu", "Deja Vu" representing this title unexpectedly and totally pierced my mind... :)
RE0 part contains the greatest terrifiing track of all CD - "Training Facility Main Theme" and for only that reason it's already worth my sympathies. Which surely doesn't mean the other tracks are bad cause they're not!
And finally RE4. Just a couple of words - I don't like it... It's tracks are long (1:30-3:46) but mostly empty (that's my own opinion) it appeals to visual context and doesn't sound without it. And it doesn't worthy to fill the lion's share of CD's space. Only the final track - "Sorrow" tries to pull this whole thing up.
In other words, this compilation is still a good sample for you to decide which title's music fits you the best... if you're want more than this of course... ?
That's all... and sorry for my english.
P.S. Nice label (CD), don't you think (which is actually a poster)?
