Pleasant enough 12 Jan 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
As with all of Lackey's work, this is a good read - I can't think of a novel of hers that I didn't like. However, this isn't one of her best. She seems to be going through the motions here - the villain is like many others, and there are more clever animals (although with more justification here, as this is a reworking of "Puss in Boots").

I am disappointed by the way the Elemental Masters series has developed. I liked the basic idea very much, but from novel to novel there seems to be little consistency. If they built up into a coherent whole that would be grand, but they haven't so far.

An honest review. 13 Jan 2008
Format:Hardcover
This book is an excellent continuation of the Masters series.
Great Characters, and a great plot line. Watch out for Wolf, he is Def. the funniest.
If there is any fault, it is that a student of history myself, Mercedes has over elaborated the dark side of Victorian Blackpool a little.
All in all, the Fire Rose is a better read, but this is a more involved plot with in my opinion a 5 star rating.

Once again Mercedes Lackey has written a most enjoyable book that just draws you in and entertains till the last page.
