What's in a name?,
By
This review is from: Research Your Surname and Your Family Tree (Paperback)
This is a handy book for those interested in discovering the meaning behind their family name.As with Dr Davis's other books, this book is written in an open and approachable style and no expert knowledge is required in order to get the most out of this volume. There is no need to read the book cover to cover, rather you can dip in and out wherever the fancy arises. Interesting sections include ones on researching Jewish and Gypsy surnames. Who would have thought that Davis - supposedly the epitome of Welsh-ness - can also be a Jewish name. At about 200 pages it is a comfortable read for a weekend and I would warmly recommend it as a start for anyone interested in finding out more about the history of their name.
