Product Description

Review

"This new edition is worth buying, too." ( Nursing Standard , July 2010) The first edition of this book was published 20 years ago and I wish I had seen it then. It is only over the last 10 years or so that I have actively become more interested and this book would have certainly stimulated my interest much sooner. If you are undertaking a research activity it is a book that helps you each step of the way. A very understandable and enjoyable publication. Accident and Emergency Nursing Journal

5.0 out of 5 stars A good investment for any nursing student. 9 Feb 2002
Format:Paperback
Writing about research in a nursing context is a difficult endevour. The text is usually too complex for the reader to grasp core concepts. This can alienate nursing students who are learning about research for the first time and further adds to anxiety when completing dissertations or literature reviews.

Cormack and colleagues, however are the light at the end of the tunnel when completing that all important piece of research for the nursing faculty. The themes of research are explored in an understandable, non exclusive way. Even the most novice of researchers will very quickly understand elements of the research process. The beauty of this book is the way in which the reader can dip in and out, utilising it as a reference guide rather than having to read the whole book. This book is rich in vital information.

A valuable investment for any nursing course, whether diploma, degree or above.

4.0 out of 5 stars Research In Nursing 31 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The concept of research is often a complex issue. This book outlines research in a clear and concise way insuring that the reader is not confused by complex termonology. It ensures this by outlining the various types and stages of research in a clear and methodical way. I feel that this book is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing addition to the research literature 10 Nov 2006
Format:Paperback
The new, updated 'Research Process in Nursing', is very suitable as a key reference resource that students of research can use at various levels of study. It is comprehensive, user friendly and very easy to read and make sense of. I like the layout and the key points at the start of each chapter are useful.Similarly the inclusion of highlighted examples of different types of research should help students understand the different methodologies that can be utilised. From many years experience of teaching students research I know that they often find the plethora of new words and terminology daunting, difficult to get to grips with in turn extremely off-putting. The inclusion of a glossary of research terms is therefore most helpful. Finally, the cost is certainly not exorbitant for those on a limited budget and in my opinion represents real value for money.
