As a student nurse studying a Research module, I would recommend this book. It is a `must have'. The chapters are well divided into manageable chunks and compared with previous reading on Health Research, I found this book surprisingly easy to read without losing out on content or quality.
The book not only covers all the main topics on research methods, but also looks into the wider aspects of health and health services. I especially liked the way the book didn't jump straight into research methods and methodology, but took time to introduce some of the main sociological and psychological concepts and ideas.
The sections of the book are clear and well structured. Each chapter is introduced in easily understood terms and ends with the main points concisely summarized, including a number of questions which reinforce what we have learned and indicating whether or not we have fully grasped the arguments and main points of the chapter. It then presents us with a list of key terms, which highlight the issues and terms the chapter has focussed on, and a list of recommended further reading. Throughout the book clear examples are very well used to build on our understanding of key concepts and at the end of the book is a very useful glossary of terms.
In summary, a well written, well structured and easily read book that will be extremely useful to Nursing students, and anyone who is carrying out a research project.
