From the Back Cover

Research Methods for Business: A Skill Building Approach, Fifth Edition is a concise and straightforward introduction for students to the world of business research. The skill building approach provides students with practical perspectives on how research can be applied in real business situations. Maintaining Uma Sekaran’s popular and accessible style of writing, Roger Bougie draws upon his extensive experience of the field to present an up–to–date guide on business research for the aspiring future manager. The fifth edition has a new chapter on qualitative data analysis, featuring a case study of the research process. The chapters on scientific investigation, the broad problem area and defining the problem statement, measurement of variables, experimental designs, sampling, and quantitative data analysis have all been substantially revised. Additional real–life cases have been included and examples are taken from Europe, Asia and the US to give students a comprehensive view of modern business research methods. The text is supplemented by a companion website at www.wileyeurope.com/college/sekaran which includes: A fully updated Instructor’s Guide Data sets PowerPoint lecture slides for each chapter Lecturers’ Testbank with multiple choice, true false, short answer and essay questions. Self–test quizzes SPSS tutorial videos for students

I was recommended this book by my university as a basis for a research methods module. I tried to read it chapter by chapter but i felt that it lacked essential information that i then had to consult other books to find. I would recommend one of the Bryman and Bell texts as i felt that it was more comprehensive and a lot more interesting and easy to read.

This is a thorough text based on Business Research and it is thick with information. It describes all the main, and less known research methods and also highlights where two different systems can be complimentary; but you have to read it, it isn't spelled out for you in some cases, and this is a good thing and this text somehow made the study of BRM far less painful or daunting.

The writing style almost reads like a transcription of a professor rambling on and on. Seems to spend too much time on easier sections and not enough time on complex topics.

This was a good book, granted I had to have it for class so I didn't really have a choice. I saved a ton of money by buying it on Amazon over the school bookstore.
