Her aim is to get through to the hurt child at the adult's core. By showing her clients how to re-enact their childhood memories, face their experiences and receive the comfort and reassurance that they so badly needed at the time, she helps to desensitise the pain. she encourages them to vent their suppressed anger, guilt and bitterness, to understand what happened to them and gradually to grow and come to terms with themselves and their sexuality. I have read a few books on abuse and my girlfriend is a survivor . I found this a very kind book , it gave me more insight , it puts ideas we had already thought of in a very simple way , and i think it will be a big help to us both

This book really surprised me int the way it is written. I have shyed away from "inner child" work in the past, but thought I`d give this book a go. It is written in a clear, easy to read way conveying so much that many survivors of childhood rape / sexual abuse take many years to find the words.

as a former victim of incest i read this book with real fear that rapidly turned to hope and joy. penny parks gave me back my hope, my capicity for joy, my life. read this book, take the first step to being whole.

Easy to read but the Kindle Edition has a few 'oddities'
For the writing and subject matter I would give top marks but because it is a Kindle version it is not quite deserving of those top marks. Read more
