Product Description

Product Description

for soprano soloist, mixed choir, and small orchestra or chamber ensemble This is one of the best-loved and most widely performed choral works of the twentieth century. The texts (in Latin and English) are from the Missa pro Defunctis, the Book of Common Prayer, and the Psalms. The seven sections form an arch-like meditation on the themes of life and death: prayers on behalf of all humanity, psalms, personal prayers to Christ, and in the central Sanctus an affirmation of divine glory. The full scores have been edited and engraved by the composer himself and are presented in handsome, cloth-bound editions. Vocal and orchestral material is available on hire.

Rutter's Requiem 19 Nov 2009
I first heard Rutter's Requiem Aeternam on Classic FM and immediately thought "What's that ? It's sensational"
The music is written for able singers , but parts can be managed by amateur choirs / singers.
The music is immensely beautiful and calming and tugs at the emotions. Very moving indeed. Apart from the main Requiem Aeternam , I recommend the Lord's my Shepherd and the Lux Aeterna. Altogether a stunning work.

Unfortunately in my haste I purchased 'Requiem' and not 'Gloria' - this was for rehearsing for the Choral Society I am in so have not actually listened to the whole of the Requiem but what I have listened to brilliant!

Hi,
I wanted the vocal score becuase we sang it after a workshop last November. I love it. Now the Choir Egham Choral are going to study Rutter's requiem to sing it for a charity concert in aid of Sam Beard Hospice. 10th October 2009 United Church of Egham 7:30

The book we are using is this book, which is easily available from Amazon. I ordered it on Super saver so didnt pay delivery charges
