The track listing is:
Requiem, Total Invasion, Wardance, Blood on Your Hands, Change, Seeing Red, Fall of Because, Death & Resurrection Show, The Wait, Whiteout, Frenzy, Psyyche and Pandemonium. Plenty of oldies and goodies and some (for the time) newies as well, making this a nicely balanced set. However, it's surprising and not too much of a crushing blow not to find LLB on the listing.
The mixing quality on the CD leaves a little to be desired, with a very heavy drum and vox track, drowning out the guitar work. Indeed, while the band's performance is up to snuff, there seems to be little substantial response from the crowd, leaving the whole experience a wee bit flat. This contrasts noticably with other live albums by the Joke, such as XXV Gathering or Gathering 2008 in which the power of the group is balanced by that of the audience.
It comes as a 2 disc set, one is a DVD of the concert and the other is a CD and the DVD track list is identical to that of the CD. I haven't watched the DVD too closely - it's not really of much interest to me, but most of the tracks have been overlayed by some seriously annoying graphics and viz effects which seriously detract (IMHO) from the performance. Jaz provides his usual shamanic performance and Geordie (also as usual) looks like he'd rather be somewhere else. I wouldn't like to have met Raven (RIP) in a dark alley, and I am guessing that is Ted Parsons (Prong?) on the drums. Did the Joke ever manage to keep a drummer for more than a year at a time?
Cover notes are comprehensive, but nothing you can't find elsewhere on the web (indeed some of the notes look suspiciously like the band's bio here on Amazon).
Overall, I'd mark this down to 3 or 4 stars, but having already written an anticipatory review of the album in which I entered a speculative 5 star rating, I don't seem to be able to adjust the rating at all.
So, if that's not a helpful review, I don't know what is. How about a few more positive votes, please? :-)
