Republica have managed to fuse rock and pop in one brilliant album. Driving music with with pouting female vocal, it is an unusual mix but works perfectly.

Come on People! For 6 months in 1997 we loved this officialy wiered group. Many people still do. I myself am the creator of the unofficial website www.freewebs.com/republica - This is a good album. Unfortunally it contains a lot of their early dance music e.g. "Out of the Darkness". Stand out traks include "Ready to Go", "Bloke", "Drop Dead Gorgeous", "Picture Me" and "Holly". If you want REAL republica then get the next album up from this "Speed Ballads". That is a great album!!!

This album has two standout tracks, both of which were singles and were quite sucessful, the infectious "Ready to Go" and the brilliantly fun "Drop Dead Gorgeous". Unfortunately the rest of the material here is just plain awful, which is a shame: if the remainder of the tracks had been of the same quality, this would have been a memorable 90's album, rather than a forgotten footnote in pop history.
