Product Description

Product Description

When Beth's eccentric boss at the government research lab asks her to try out his latest duplicating machine, she'd be crazy to do any such thing. She's not cleared for this, insured or authorized; it's late Friday evening and she wants to go home. But Beth is fatally unassertive. She agrees, and unknown to her another Beth is created.

The replica overhears MI5 chief, Sir Peter Ellis, discussing her future - or rather, lack of it. Terrified, she goes on the run. Penniless, friendless and homeless, she has to find the inner strength and aggression to survive on icy London streets.

Spec op Nick Cavanagh likes to win. Though Beth thinks he's outside her apartment to protect her, in fact he's hunting her double. As the replica proves difficult to catch and the stakes get higher, he has to decide whose side he is on.

Full length novel: 82,000 words, by the author of REMIX, ICE DIARIES and WOLF BY THE EARS.
Formatted for Kindle Format 8 - fonts/font sizes can be changed on newer Kindles such as the Paperwhite.

More About the Author

For years, I resisted writing because I knew I'd never be as good as Jane Austen. Finally I realized no one is as good as Jane Austen - I started writing and couldn't stop. I've sold over 69,000 ebooks.

My first two novels are fantasy. The third, REMIX, is contemporary fiction with elements of crime, investigation and romance, and tells what happens when Caz Tallis finds a strange man asleep on her roof terrace. He turns out to be - no, I'm not telling you, you'll have to read it to find out... My fourth, REPLICA, is a thriller. Beth Chandler is unknowingly replicated in a flawed experiment, and falls for the man who is hunting her double. ICE DIARIES is a post-apocalyptic story with romance and humour. My latest is WOLF BY THE EARS, a thriller set in London.

My day job is designing and making jewellery and silver under my real name, Lexi Dick. I've made pieces for Margaret Thatcher, 10 Downing Street and Her Majesty the Queen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping- you'll want to read it in one sitting! 15 April 2011
By A.B.
Format:Kindle Edition
Thrillers are not my usually genre, however I enjoyed Lexi's first book Remix so much that I bought this as soon as I heard about it. I agree with all the positive reviews already posted. This book is outstanding, and deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion. It really is gripping- I desperately wanted to read it all in one sitting, but unfortunately when it got to 1am the night I'd started it, I very reluctantly had to turn my light off due to an early start the next day. My only slight criticim is that I wish the final chapter was longer and more detailed- I supsect this is more because I didn't want the story to end and because I was so invested in the characters that I wanted to hear more so it should be taken as a positive really. No matter what your usual tastes are, my advice is buy it and read it asap, but start it early enough in the day because once you start you'll be hooked and won't want to stop until you've reached the very end!!Loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended 21 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lexi Revellian has many skills as a writer but she has one in particular that appeals to her readers - she creates believable, interesting characters. She also avoids clichéd and stereotypical ones which, to me, is equally important.

The lead character in 'Replica', Beth, (actually there are two of her, hence the title) is seemingly innocent and attractively vulnerable yet, at the same time, we learn, she is a woman who is intelligent, determined and resourceful. In both forms, this character had me feeling an affinity for her and, as a man, wanting to do something to help and protect her. That's a remarkable feat for an author to achieve and is the reason I've given this book my first 5 star rating.

I know well someone who is employed in the British security services, and the way the author deals with this aspect of the plot would indicate that she has carried out some research on the matter (something I've found that few other new authors here on Kindle Books hardly ever bother to do). So, full marks for that too. EDITED to say that I failed to notice the slip-up relating to Beth's entry to Thames House (and which the author reports in her comment to CEEAITCHJAY that she has now corrected) - I was reading in bed and must have been dozing off at that point!

Having said that, the basic premise of the plot requires an extremely elastic imagination. However, once you've got your imagination at full stretch and accepted that premise, the book takes off and is a veritable page turner.

My only criticism (and this also applied to the author's first book, 'Remix') is that the ending was, for me, a little too short and sudden.

From a technical standpoint, the attention to formatting, spelling and grammar, and also geographical accuracy, is impeccable, with the result that the book exudes professionalism.

As I said in my title for this review... Highly Recommended!

I have a real soft spot for Lexi Revellian's first book Remix as it was the first book I read on my kindle. I was therefore delighted to find her latest novel had been released.

Replica is a fast-moving thriller that kept me interested and wanting to find out what happened next. Lexi's writing is wonderful and as good as anything being published by mainstream publishers.

The particularly interesting aspect of this book for me were the two Beth's characters. Lexi made each Beth come alive and, although they were clearly the same person, she wrote them in such a way that you felt for them both and could easily identify which Beth was which by slight differences in behaviour caused by the different circumstances they found themselves in.

Easily as good as Remix, Replica is a gem and Lexi Revellian is a real talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great find I really enjoyed it 10 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A lady I met at a book exchange told me her sister was the writer Lexi Revellion. I looked her up out of curiosity and I am so glad I did. This book is a real page turner, keeping me up late unable to put it down. I liked the style of writing, with each character telling their part of the story in the first person. It is a real Kindle bargain, and on finishing it I immediately purchased her other novel - Remix.
An author to watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars A stunning read - highly recommended. 16 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A startling read and near perfect book (and this from someone whose favourite genre is historical romance, not thrillers)
Helpful but meek, Beth agrees to help her boss in a secret replication experiment. Unbeknownst to her, something goes wrong, and an identical replica of her is produced. The Secret Services cannnot risk Beth revealing how she came into existance and she must be eradicated.
Beth Two goes on the run, whilst Beth One remains oblivious to her doppledangers existence. Meantime MI5 operative, Nick, charms his way into Beth One bed, in order to spy on her.

'Replica' has involved, believable characters, a strong plot and more twists and turns than a paperclip. Indie author Lexi Revellian is to be applauded - the quality of the writing and sheer enjoyment value as in excess of many established authors. A throughly enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Read 18 Jun 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Having read and enjoyed Remix, I was keen to check out Lexi's latest. And although it's quite different in subject matter, I really enjoyed following Beth through the challenges facing her. Well written with plenty of things to keep you on your toes, I'd definitely recommend it.
