1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid, 20 May 2003

G. Davies (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Replacements [Us Import] (Audio CD)
I own several soundtracks, including Back to the Future, the Faculty, and Spiderman and without a doubt this is by far the worst I have come across. Instead of the obvious choice of using songs featured in the film, most by well known artists, most of the tracks here are instrumentals made specifcally for the film, usually perofrmed by an unknown (at least for me) Font 48.

I've always thought that the instrumentals weren't meant to be a significant part of a film, they were something in the back ground used to portray the feelings on screen. I can remember someone (I think he was a composer for the Simpsons) saying that, if you didnt notice his compositions, his job was done. So why you'd want to have a whole cd of them, is beyond me.

As a result significant songs played during the film, and the reason I bought the album were left out, including 'Going to Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)' - C&C Music Factory, 'Every Breath You Take' - The Police, 'Heores' (originally performed by David Bowie, covered by Font 48), 'Blinded by Rainbows', and 'You got me Rocking' by The Rolling Stones are just a few of the noticable absenties.

All in all just five of 16 songs on the soundtrack aren't instrumentals, and I think this is a very poor show. One or two would have been okay, especially if they were memorable (Back to the Future) but on this scale, there's far too many at the expense of more prominant better songs. Avoid.

2.0 out of 5 stars These tracks need replacements, 19 Sep 2000
By Nicholas M. Laiso - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Replacements [Us Import] (Audio CD)
When I first saw the movie, 'The Replacements' I was literally astounded at how many different songs the movie used. This movie was stocked full of tunes ranging from classic to top 40 to jock jams. Now that it's out I would like to smack the team that put this CD together. Make no mistake, the content of the CD is good, but it has nowhere near the potential it could have had. Missing from the CD are great classics such as Queen's 'We will rock you' and 'Every Move you Make' by the Police. I would have to see the movie again to compile a complete list of what is missing but trust me, it's A LOT. It's a dissapointing end to over a month's long wait for this soundtrack. If the price is right I would recommend it but you wouldn't catch me paying more than $15 for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The movie was solid...but the soundtrack was a little weak, 27 Dec 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Replacements [Us Import] (Audio CD)
I waited in anticipation for the soundtrack to "The Replacements" to be released...and only to be slightly dissapointed after purchasing it. They should have released the soundtrack as a 2 CD set....one with the music score and the other with the tracks in the film. All the standards were there..I Will Survive, Rock and Roll Part 2, Bust A Move...but I really expected more.

Some of the following songs from the film were missing from the Soundtrack:
Amanda Marshall - Ride (Tuesday's Child) When falco gets nailed by Bateman the second time in practice.
The Rolling Stones - Blinded By Rainbows (Voodoo Lounge)
The Rolling Stones - You Got Me Rocking (Voodoo Lounge)
The Rolling Stones - Moon Is Up (Voodoo Lounge)
Groove Armada - If Everybody Looked The Same (The Next Best Thing)
The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You (13 Tales from Urban Bohemia) Plays before fight during bar scene and when the Sentinals are entering the field for the second half against Dallas.
EMF - Unbelievable
Marky Mark - Good Vibrations

Could have been an @ss kicken soundtrack.....only worth buying if your a diehard fan of the film!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a soundtrack, but a joke, 23 Aug 2001
By Robert Wilkins - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Replacements [Us Import] (Audio CD)
My whole family had rented The Replacements again over the weekend and we all loved the music so much that we decided that we HAD to get the soundtrack. Well, it's a shell game. It is no soundtrack. Everyone of the Stones songs in the movie, the remix of "Hero", and many other great tunes are NOT, I repeat, NOT on this piece of junk CD. Those songs are what gave the movie some punch and feeling, they are important to the film. I also noted that there are bogus photos in the CD jacket and one of the pictures of the players has been flipped, so his number reads 18 instead of 81.

The jokers who created this CD should be ashamed of themselves for duping people into believing that this piece of plastic had something to do with the movie. It doesn't. Don't waste a dime on this...I only gave it one star, because I had to. It deserves none.
