Fixed my old dead TomTom battery problem. Good replacement. They are a bit fiddley to replace. You need some small screwdrivers to unscrew and prise open the case. Be careful with the cables that connect to the screen etc.

Lost all the LIVE services without a working battery, as the TomTom 1005 SIM uses the battery and ignores the fact that you have the TomTom plugged in. As others have said, just google a video or something to help you with fitting it, and make sure you have some small screwdrivers. I actually got away with a tiny flat ended screwdriver used on the Torx, as mine obviously weren't too too tight.

You may notice that the specs are just a tiny bit different. Both are 3.7V, which I guess is the main thing, but on mine the old specs were 1100mAh and 4.07Wh. I have been told that these two specs in comparison to the slightly (I think they were 100mHa and 3.7Wh or so) lower numbers on the new battery won't make too much difference. They are all about how long the charge holds for. Considering the old battery has zero capacity to hold charge and no LIVE services, and now I have a fully functioning TomTom again for less than £7, I'm completely happy with that!!!

Just take you time with the replacement, it is all attached to a circuit board after all, but don't let it put you off giving it a go unless you really aren't confident.

Ordered this for my TOMTOM 1000 live. It arrived very quickly. The original would not hold charge and had to be constantly plugged in. This also meant that when I first switch the unit on there wasn't enough charge to load up the live traffic so I had to a soft reset (hold power until you hear the drums) 10mins into each journey. Bought this battery, looked up a guide on the net and followed. It is fiddly and a tiny flathead screw driver can unscrew the hex screws so no need to buy a special bit.The only problem I came across was the screen would turn a yellow tinge every time I went to clip it all back together. I thought this was the screen connection at first but after fiddling about it turned out to be one of the cables on the battery was touching the back of the screen every time I went to close the unit. I simply un-plugged the battery spun the connection 360 degrees to curl the cable on its self and bingo! All working. Saved myself a 100 odd for a new unit.

I thought my Go Live 1000 had died for ever and there was nothing I could do about it as the 1 year warrantee period had already expired. The original battery would not charge and because of the way the Live Services work (this portion of the device is powered from the battery even when the device is plugged in to the car lighter socket or a computer USB port) my Tom Tom would constantly try to restart itself. I bought this battery because I thought that even if it won't work for me my loss would be only a few pounds (paid around £6 more or less, don't remember the exact amount now).

It is a bit fiddly to open to Tom Tom so I watched a couple of videos that I could find online and also bought the PDA GPS Phone Toolkit here on Amazon (for something like £1.50). That toolkit proved very helpful to me as it had the right 'star' mini screw driver for the job and also a plastic bit that helped me open the device. After a bit of try I managed to open my Tom Tom and replace the battery! Happy days, it's working fine now and I feel rewarded because the device had originally cost me around £250 and I thought that it would never work again!

Just be careful when you open your device because it is quite easy to rip off the cable inside that connects the two parts, or to break a small plastic bit that is near the on/off switch in order to keep the switch in place. Also the original battery has a sticker on it with glue on both sides so when you move the Tom Tom around the battery is always glued to the device in such a way that it does not move around. I didn't have that special sticker and a result if I shake my Tom Tom now I can hear the battery moving around a bit, so I might re-open it and fix this issue.

Having been dissatisfied with my TomTom Live 1005 due to bad battery and TomTom's complete lack of taking responsibility I found that many other users have had same problem.
Apparently the problem is not the battery but the built in charger which "kills" the battery.
As TomTom even within the gurantee period did not want to take product back for repair this £7 battery fixes the problem.

On YouTube ([...] I found how to open my device and install the new battery. It was a 15 min job only including a small screw driver and sharp knife. TomTom is now as good as new!

Thanks for the superb help from other users out there and thanks for supplying this battery in less than 24 hours from order!
