This replacement was as good as the original & works perfectly. It is a chore to remove the old one but persevere. Tap it out of its housing via the shaft with a mallet as it is damaged anyway. Tip on fitting new unit(with rubber casing) into the old plastic housing, smear the casing with washing up iquid , it will then slide in easier. Ensure the rubber end washer is lined up correctly.

This motor is not a genuine Dyson motor but appears to be very well constructed, fitted to our Dyson DC07 without problem in about an hour and has made the DC07 peform like new. I would recomend this product as an alternative to the more expensive genuine Dyson motor.

I bought the motor from bartyspares in May 2011, it looked new and arrived promptly.
With the help of youtube I tried to change the motor in my Dyson DC14 Allergy, it was quite a feat but I managed it eventually. Unfortunately, for whatever reason the hoover did not turn on. I took it to my local repair shop and they fit it in for me. The man was not sure why it did not work but said one possibility was that I had used vaseline to lubricate the motor to ease it back into its casing. I had seen the suggestion in one of the videos I watched (as well as the one about washing-up liquid) so I thought it would be OK to do that. Anyway, as for the motor itself, it is still working after 3 months.
