5.0 out of 5 stars Behrouz - Amazing mix!!, 4 Jan 2006
I must admit that scanning through disc 1 (I usually fast forward through the tracks when I first receive a cd) I wasn't overly impressed by Yousef's mix. Behrouz's CD however was a totally different story - many of the tracks caught my attention and I spent much longer browsing the CD.

After listening to both CDs in their entirety here is the verdict:

Yousef's mix was in fact not all that bad at all, it is the type of mix that grows on you.

Behrouz's mix is my new favorite...I listened to it over Christmas, many times, and my, WHAT A VOYAGE!!! Very progressive mix with some very nice innovative use of sounds this is now CD 1 in my car's changer.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT STUFF!, 15 Sep 2005
Well it looks like yet another great renaissance compilation, only this time mastered buy the masters themselves Yousef & Behrouz. CD one takes you on a melow sample of yousef's expertise kicking of with joeski feat. Mr reo- then on with switch-just bounce 2 this, folowed buy some top tracks such as east coast boogiemen & DJ heather-picture of you & yousef & justin long -$trictly business. Then takeing you out on Alex wolfenden presents bagnasty feat. Nasty EP-everyday. CD two buy behrouz is more progressive & upbeat, I personally enjoyed it the best out of the two CD's. Starting of with the enjoyable phonique feat. erland 0ye-for the time being then on with the likes of the youngsters-confidential music & sultan & tommyboy-you make me feel extacy, then finishing on the epic jonathan & brdley-manhattan(big apple original mix). I can honestly say that I enjoyed frontiers from start to finish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality., 3 Jan 2006
By Mitya (Nottm., UK) - See all my reviews
The good name of Renaissance remains justifiably so with this release, from the underheard Yoursef and deep house man Behrouz.

CD1 is the clincher - Yousef's set is just so finely tuned. Curious jazz-laden starters given way to quirky breaks, showcased best by Switch's Bounce to This - - an obscenely funky track, its brass sampling making it all the cooler. Other highlights like Go! and Strictly Business (also obscenely funky), compliment the mix further.

Anyone familiar with the dependable In House We Trust series will know and expect good things from Behrouz on CD2. For the most part Behrouz's trademark of blend of deep and dark house is the order of the day. The accapella of Tone Depth's Everything, with its iconic guitar sample, is a highlight as early on as track 3. The low part of the entire album, however, is track 4 of this mix. Sorry but I just so tired of the 'understated house track with a woman evocatively speaking in Spanish over the top' format. Quality returns, however, soon after, with the soreen You Make Me Feel and kicking Esperanza the stand-out corkers.

If you love breaks but not really deep/prog house (I normally reside firmly in the latter), or vise versa, this album, with its complimentary rather than unfitting contrast, might just broaden that area of the musical spectrum you reside in.
