Although Amazon says this cd is'nt released until the 10th March, HMV are selling it now for £10.99 so if your a diehard Zabiela fan and can't wait any longer i'm sure a difference of £2 is'nt going to cripple your wallet.
The cd's themselves are great. They stick to the tried and tested method of cd1 being downtempo and cd2 more clubby material, this by no means is a bad point and does'nt at all mean that both these cd's are'nt innovative (hate using that word, but it really is).
A few of my mates commented on how old some of the tracks are, expecting JZ to mix some unreleased gems, true some of the tracks included in these cd's are from a few years back, but in a way its a kinda retrospective view of the best underground dance tracks from present and past years.
In comparison to the other installments of the renaissance masters series (just the ones released in the past year or so, not Dave Seaman etc) this is definately top of the class, closely followed by Satoshi Tomiie's efforts. JZ's sound is constantly evolving and this cd differs immensely from his one+one sound as well as his Alive and Utility cd's. The feel of both cd's is really melodic without any of the cheese, just good riffs, with the second cd bringing in some nice bouncy bass (not herve style) just good ol rolling bouncy bass.
As always JZ adds his own personal touches recorded on his crazy dictaphone thing, noises such as fireworks, retinal scanners at airports and a mates mad mumblings are all thrown into the mix. It's brilliantly mixed as you would expect. One thing that is lacking for all the heads out their is the usual discription of how its all been mixed and the effects that have been used, which is a bit of a let down. I suppose thats just being picky though.
I can't really choose between either of the cd's they are both spot on in their own right, each cd for a different mood. I can really imagine going out clubbing to cd 2 and i've been to a few JZ gig's and can say that this is pretty close to what you get when your in a club with this guy on the decks. Now all we need is JZ 'Fabric' and 'Balance' mixes.
