Product Description

The First World War is over and people must attempt to come to terms with their losses and learn to cope with the changing times and a radically different environment. Improved communication, radio and air travel all increase the pace of life. Along with these come new challenges to test the character of the new generation. In Byland Crescent, and in Australia, younger members of the Cowgill and Fisher families find love and happiness, and attempts are made to heal past differences. However, for some, their very existence will be endangered as they prepare to face an even greater threat, the gathering storm of another conflict.

More About the Author

My ambitions are simple. I'm a storyteller. I want to write books that people will enjoy so much they will look out for the next one with my name on the cover. Although reviews are important, it is the opinion of readers that matters most to me.
With seven books in the DI MIKE NASH series published, I have decided to set aside the crime books for the time being in order to focus my attention on a long overdue project that is close to my heart.
Under my pen name WILLIAM GORDON I have recently released WATERING THE OLIVES, a collection of light-hearted stories, and THE LAST RESORT, both set on a fictional Greek island. However, the principal reason for the change of direction is the BYLAND CRESCENT series, a five-volume family saga that will span the period from late Victorian times until the present day, with each book centred around a new generation of the families.
The series will take the reader to such diverse locations as West and North Yorkshire, Australia, Europe and America. The first book, REQUIEM, is available in paperback and both REQUIEM and book two,RENAISSANCE are now available to download on KINDLE. The remaining titles in this series, will follow in due course.
That doesn't mean that I've given up my life of crime. There will be more Mike Nash stories on the way soon. Watch this space!

4.0 out of 5 stars Perseverance after WW1 1 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Renaissance is the story of two families, the Cowgill's and the Fisher's. WW1 ended and the families needed to persevere after suffering heart-rending personal losses. From England to Australia they became familiarized with innovative ways of life. They also faced the challenges of forgiveness within their families.

Reading Renaissance, I enjoyed following the Cowgill and Fisher families from Requiem, Byland Crescent Book One. The characters remained interesting as they lived through dramatic life events at such trying times.

I especially enjoyed the historical aspect of Renaissance, as it's my favorite genre.

The Byland Crescent Series has five volumes, and I'm currently looking forward to reading Book Three.

4.0 out of 5 stars Byland Crescent Book Two 20 Feb 2013

After missing in action and presumed dead, Sonny Cowgill returns to Byland Crescent a hero. Needless to say all are overjoyed and none more than his wife Lydia. As he recovers Sonny is faced with a family business that has been ruined by his unscrupulous cousin and a world economy near ruin. The story spans the years between WWI & WWII and the Cowgill and Fisher family’s joy, sorrow, and challenges during that time.

I really enjoyed the details of the family and their lives as they are very reminiscent of the Downton Abbey family however, I didn’t especially enjoy all time and detail spent on the war in Spain. I did like the overall book and look forward to Book Three.
