Verified Purchase
I bought this as it had received good reviews, and it does the job well, acting exactly like the shutter button on the camera (half depress to autofocus etc). However I was surprised to find the cable is only 1 metre long, and this fact doesn't seem to get an obvious mention anywhere in the description. That's fine for its prime use in my case - to avoid camera shake when using long exposure times - but hardly any use if you want to be in the family picture (unless you have arms like a gorilla).

Fits the camera perfectly, build quality seems fine, and at a 10th of the cost of an official Canon switch, even it it falls apart over time, it's still great value.

Received this as a gift for Christmas (6 days ago), only got a chance to try it out yesterday. For starters, the fact that it is very cheaply made doesn't exactly fill one with a great deal of faith in the product. In practice it's lasted for about 40 shots before the firing mechanism has failed; press the button half way to focus and it works fine, press further to fire the shutter and nothing happens - after 40 shots only, ladies and gents! Yes, I know it's cheap, but it really should be fit for purpose; and with the p&p costing almost as much as the product itself, it's certainly not worth going to the trouble to send back only to receive another, which, I imagine, would have a high chance of being as rubbish as the first one. Do yourself a favour and spend a bit more if you want a remote that works. Zero stars.

What more could you ask for for the price. It focus's for you when half depressed, you can slide the switch for continuous mode and it's small enough to take up next to no space in your bag. Great for those family shoots when you'd rather not be stuck behind the camera.

This product does exactly what it says on the tin! A functional remote release that worked with no issues. It is a good handy size and the cable length is adequate for most applications. If you are wanting to use from further away than 1 meter, then a wireless remote is probably more appropriate than clogging your kit bag up with yards of wire! I went with the 100m remote control from the same company to complement this cable release and would recommend both for your kit bag!

A lovely cheap (which is rare for digital photography) piece of kit. Not particularly well made but certainly looks like it will last a couple of years. As previous reviewer says - if it falls apart then at this price who cares.

I bought this wireless remote control, based on a few good reviews it had received. When I first received it and tried it with my Canon EOS40D, it simply would not work! I e-mailed the seller and eventually posted the item back to get it replaced (that part of the service worked out fine).

Anyhow, on receipt of the second remote control, it worked fine for the first few days but after using it for a month or so, it again broke down for no apparent reason (and it is certainly not through misuse on my end).

I know that for the original price of this item, one can only expect so much but I would certainly not be fooled into buying this again. Wait till you can afford a better quality one!

I've had two of these. The first was great. No problems and I had it for over a year and used it regularly with no problems. Unfortunately I lost it, so bought another one. This one has failed after 6 months and not much use.
With something this cheap there must be an element of luck about whether you get a good one or not. Trying to decide whether to go for a third now!!!
