Poor all round 6 Mar 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
Firstly lets talk about the packaging. This item was shipped in a flimsy cardboard box, enclosed inside a standard gauge paper envelope. How it ever reached me i'll never know. The box was crumpled and bent due to the lack of any robust packaging around it (at least a jiffy bag would have helped). First alarm bell ringing.
having opened the envelope the first thing i notice is that there is no invoice or receipt slip so lets hope it works, otherwise where do i send it back to? Second alarm bell ringing. oh well, lets try it out !
plugged it into the camera (with much reluctance on the part of the plug !) When other reviewers have described it as a 'snug fit' they really meant snug. But it didnt work when i tried to operate it, and yes i did have the camera set to remote shutter, in manual mode etc etc. however when i came to try to remove it, guess what! the metal shroud stuck inside the slot on the camera and i had to use a pair of long nose pliers to remove it. So now ive got an item of equipment that doesn't work, has become damaged through no fault of my own, and i have no address or contact to ship it back to (it doesn't come direct from amazon).
i guess the moral of the story is you get what you pay for. pay cheap and you get cheap. I'd rather take my business to Nikon direct, and get something that works and is truly compatible with the camera.
never again will i buy cheaply, its false economy !

This product represents extremely good value for money, it appears to be of better build quality than a previously purchased Hama unit and so far has worked well
