Product Description

Published November 2011

'I didn't mean to kill her. That is the first thing you need to understand about me...'

So begins the story of John Duggan: locked in a prison cell, his fairytale life in tatters. A week ago he was a happily married father with a four month old daughter and a career on the up. Now he is facing a life behind bars for killing one of them. Where did it all go so wrong?

Discovering that his wife is cheating on him, John Duggan deals with it the only way he knows how; getting his revenge. Hiring a Private Detective with a shady past to spy on her and getting drunk to cope with the relentlessly screaming baby makes him a ticking time bomb ready to explode. As his stress levels reach a dangerous high, he is going to learn a valuable lesson about life.

Not every fairytale has a happy ending…

Sex, lies, babies and stress: Remorse is a fast-paced, British, crime thriller set in Southampton

A story about life, life behind closed doors and beyond the mask of perfectionism that a family creates for the public eye. I liked the honest realism of this story. The fact the character owns up to being annoyed at the crying infant and the nagging wife. Having to curb his temper when he wants to lash out at either of them, because he is overtired due to lack of sleep and nagging suspicion. The story also shows how the choices we make define and shape our lives, especially the ones we forget to make. I enjoyed the read, perhaps because it was something different, or because it didn't make it frilly and butterfly nice. The only thing I think it could do with to make it a little bit better is to trim it down and take out some of the superfluous details and centre on the main storyline.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story.
To me, the quality of any book is whether I genuinely look forward to picking it up, and have to force myself to put it down. That applies to Stephen Edger's Remorse. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably boring!
The book description reads "Remorse is a fast-paced, British, crime thriller" but this book is neither fast-paced, nor a crime thriller. Read more

Not bad very true to life. Too many pages spent describing irrelevant things though. Ending could have been finished better, author seemed to run out of ideas at this point. Read more

There was way too much of the mundane, this would have been way better if it were a quarter of the length. Too much detail of too much insignificance. Read more
