Biographyby Chris Woodstra

Since her debut in 1988, Sarah McLachlan's atmospheric folk-pop has gained a devoted following not only in her native Canada, where she established star status with her first album, but also in the U.S. and U.K. The following two decades saw her growing both as a musician and songwriter, continually redefining herself and emerging as a major voice in the ... 5.0 out of 5 stars Superb collection of remixes in eclectic styles. 19 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
From the opening thumping notes of the first remix by hybrid, you know that you are in for a treat. This canadian import, on the back of the successful collaboration of Sarah McLachlan and Delerium certainly does not disappoint. With contributions from swansea based hybrid and the reigning king of production, william orbit, it is obvious that this is going to be a winning formula. McLachlan's clear and often haunting vocals seem to fit all the various remixes very well. I am uncertain as to whether these songs have been remixed at the time of release of the original versions, or retrospectively (on the back of recent success), but I strongly recommend a purchase. DJ Tiesto again makes some excellent contributions by creating suitably layered soundscapes that just seem to bring out the best in McLachlan's voice.Simple formula but very effective. The original versions are all excellent, but these mixes add depth and do not detract, proving that great song writing and state of the art electronica can co-exist blissfully. Don't be put off by thinking that this album is a gimick, just buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A new direction 20 Aug 2001
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Sarah Mclachlan is undoubtedly a vocal talent. Unfortunately her skills with instruments meant that for the most part, she was beyond the reach of club heads as her albums tended towards the acoustic.
With the introduction of 'Silence', in collaboration with 'Delirium' however, Sarah has earned a whole new set of fans. In picking up on this, 'Remixed' was released.
Remixed is a fine set of chill-out dance tunes with Sarahs haunting church hall vocals. Fans of Sarah will find the remix of her songs odd at first (especially 'Hold on'), but it does grow. New fans will instantly recognise this album as a chill out classic.
From the start, 'Fear' sets the tone of haunting bass sounds that you can nod your head to, and really enjoy after a heavy night out. It is built up to the popular (highly chart placed) 'Silence'. 'Possesion' may seem a little less odd to the hardcore Mclachlan fans as it was already released on her 'Rarities and B-side' album, and makes a fine worthy inclusion.
My personal stand out tracks are 'Silence', 'Fear' and 'Black'. Either for being just good Mclachlan tracks generally, or for being excellent chill-out tunes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Famous DJs with Sarahs Beautiful Voice 22 Oct 2004
By Trancer
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Basicly sums it up, i cant really add much to what has already been said, but i want this review to be viewed not from a fan of Sarahs music but from the view point of a fan of Vocal Trance. Yet again if your a fan of Sarah Mclachlans music your probably not going to like this one bit, but if you love Delerium - Silence (Tiesto mix) and BT's stuff then you will take to this album. A good illustation would be if you like clannad you probably wont like Chicane's "Saltwater"
As a big fan of Delerium, Conjure One, Tiesto, BT etc... and most other Vocal Trance artists i found the remixes quite refreshing. Forgetting everything you know about Sarah's Music and looking from the point of view of the above artists you will like this album. Fair play to Sarah for wanting to apeal to a wider audience, although most of the mixes are not up to the standard of most of the top vocal trance tracks they still have a nice blend between Ambient and Trance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sarah + club music = an unexpected shock 28 May 2007
By Hiro
Format:Audio CD
When I first heard about this CD, I thought "Club music? Sarah? Remixed?? Really??". But I was utterly wrong, and pleasantly surprised. I don't go to clubs and not fond of clubby music. But this CD blew my head off.

The intensity from #1 to #5 is unbelievable.

But shame is #7 'Silence', which is already included as the last tune in her "Rarities, B-Sides, & Other Stuff" (great CD). I wanted her to replace it with 'Silence - Sanctuary Mix' by Delerium, which I personally think better than DJ Tisto's version.

5.0 out of 5 stars For remix fans 31 Mar 2003
Format:Audio CD
If you don't like dance music (electronica, techno, whatever you call it where the DJ re-does someone's song), then you're not going to like this album. If you do, and you like Sarah McLachlan's music, you really should check it out. Great, funky, dancey, remixes of her songs - some better than others, but definitely good enough to buy. Sometimes the original slow beat song sounds unusual redone as a fast dance beat, but it grows on you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 8 Feb 2005
By Darren
Format:Audio CD
With a few exceptions (such as Possession - Rabbit in the moon remix) Sarah McLachlan songs don't seem to remix very well. Perhaps it is just the style of her songs or maybe the mixes have been poorly executed. Whatever the reason this album just doesn't get you hooked in the same way as her others. I love Sarah McLachlan and would give all of her studio albums at least 4 stars but this is sadly disappointing. One for the collectors only I'm afraid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime collection of trance remixes 25 Nov 2001
Format:Audio CD
Thankfully a collection of previously hard-to-get-hold-of and expensive vinyl mixes on CD.
Beautiful music trance-formed in remixes, the poignant Sweet Surrender is the highlight for me though I prefer the Airscape mix of Silence, a track which enlightened me to both Mclachlan and Trance in one fell swoop.Essential tunage - buy & try :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars AWFUL!! 25 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Having been pleasantly surprised with remix albums in the past, and being a long time fan of Sarah McLachlan I jumped at this album, but what a mistake.
This album is everything that is bad about remix albums - all the tracks (without exception) are generic, over-long, unimaginative dance/techno tracks which use Sarah's original tracks as nothing more than inappropriate sources for samples. None pay any respect at all to the mood or pace of the original tracks, and all reduce Sarah's powerful vocals (always up front on her own albums) to being behind endless waves of electro racket.
There's a lot of new, refreshing things being done with dance music right now. None of them are on this CD. It deserves ZERO stars.

Got the first one when I was in Canada, several years back, but someone took it so i am glad to have another. Still sounds good whether it is her remixed or just original albums.
