Ceramic has become the big buzz word in hair straightening--quite simply the more the better. The grade and quantity of ceramic coating determines so much about the quality of your straighteners. How does the Wet2Straight work?
Unlike conventional straighteners, the Remington Wet2Straight is designed for use on towel dried hair, so there's no need to blow dry and then straighten. Hang up your hair dryer as this clever straightener does it all. As the plates glide down the hair, all excess water vaporises into steam escaping through specially designed vent holes in the straightener.
While in use, it is important not to block these holes otherwise the steam can't be released and there's no need for alarm if the straightener emits a hissing sound during straightening. This is part of the design and is nothing to worry about; it simply alerts you that the steam is escaping and that the process is working. I have very thick shoulder length hair and I hate blow drying it as it just turns into a crazy unmanageable mess. If I wanted to straighten my hair before getting these straighteners I would have to wash it then wait for it to dry naturally.
Now I have these I prefer to straighten from wet. It is, according to the blurb on the pack, actually better for your hair to do it from wet and the hissing noise is all good as it's the water from your hair coming out of the vents as steam. It really is pretty cool to see your hair go from towel dried to completely dry as you straighten - v satisfying.
I have found however that after I have straightened from wet it doesn't look quite as smooth and shiny. I am now in the habit of doing it from wet and then pottering about for a bit and finishing off with the straighteners on the dry setting before I go out. I then get lovely smooth shiny hair. I wonder if it's because my hair is too wet when I do it first off and am experimenting with letting it dry a little bit more.
First the good:-
The straighteners are very funky to look at, a deep purple colour and quite curved. They come with a lovely silver heatproof pouch to put them away in.
They have a clear digital display which flashes until it's up to temp then alerts you with a beep.
You can lock the keys while straightening to prevent you turning them off or accidentally changing the temp.
The display is a different colour depending on whether you are straightening wet or dry hair.
It heats up very quickly.
The bad :-
It's curviness makes it a bit awkward to put down. It falls onto it's side and feels a bit unstable. I may feel better about this if I had a heat mat.
You have to be careful to have the vents pointing away from your face and hands or you'll get burnt when the steam comes out.
All in all I am thrilled with these straighteners and I have high hopes for the Wet to straight thing working for me. I will try and update in a few weeks as to how I am getting on.

How excited was I when I saw these were available - VERY! It normally takes me a while to get ready in the morning but the major point is that these straighteners dry your hair whilst you straighten - for me this is such a time saver and gives me longer to decide what to wear!
I love the fact that they leave my hair feeling and looking shiny all day as with my old set, my hair would go frizzy and be put up in a ponytail by lunchtime. From the first day I used them, people asked if I had had my hair coloured or cut as the straighteners enhanced my hair colour and style. The same happened when I used them on dry hair.
It's also good that they are thin so you can get right into the roots and give ultimate volume. They can also be used to create loose waves and curls which again saves having to heat up tongs and ultimately saves time.
This product does not come with sectioning clips but if you have used straighteners before you may already have some or you can get them for a very reasonable cost. This also applies to heat protection spray.
I really can recommend this product as I am very particular about my hair and I cannot see me using anything else now except the Remington S7902 Wet 2 Straight Straightener.

As a straightening novice, straighteners scare me. The thought of these possibly boiling my hair in the wet to dry process also left me feeling slightly nervous. Having a useless straightening hairdryer break my hair in the past I bravely decided to wait for some other reviews in case of adverse reports and then use my 9 year old daughter as a guinea pig. Thankfully my fears were groundless and these straighteners are excellent. No worrying steam clouds just a gentle, quiet 'psstt' noise and blink and you'll miss it, very thin vapour cloud. The hair was a safe to touch temperature immediately after the straightening pass so despite the steam there is nothing to worry about. The plates glided really easily and I had to exert very little pressure each pass. It was very simple and easy and the results were very good. Sectioning clips are a must to effectively straighten the top and bottom layers of hair.
The straighteners are thin and easily managable. They are much thinner than the straighteners my hairdresser uses but they worked just as effectively. The buttons are well laid out and there is a lock feature so you can't mistakenly alter the temperature or turn them off mid session.
The wet to dry straightening is recommended for all hair types at 230 degrees and this worked with no problems on my daughters' thin, fine, shoulder length hair.
This straightener can also be used as a conventional straightener with a recommendation of 150-200 degrees for fine, damaged or fragile hair and 200-230 degrees for thick, wavy or difficult to manage hair.
The temperature can easily be adjusted with a + or - button. Holding the - button for 2 seconds 'locks' in the temperature for that use. Holding the - button for 2 seconds unlocks the temperature setting.
The LCD screen showing the temperature is clear and bright and very helpfully is coloured blue when in wet to straight mode and green when in dry straightening mode.
Highly recommended. They straighten and dry very quickly are are a great time saving idea. They are also very easy to use even for a complete novice and come with a 5 year guarantee so represent good value for money.

I've been using these straighteners every other day for over a month now and absolutely love them. For me the straightening results last until my next hair wash (I've got shoulder length fine hair) and they are so easy to use. Just remember to hold them the right way up so the steam escapes away from your head else ouch. One minor niggle is they sometimes fall over when not in use eg when heating up, when brushing hair mid straighten or when sorting out and letting down your sectioning clips. It's difficult to lay them down flat as the cable end gets in the way. They are also very narrow so finding the balance centre requires some thought rather than a quick put down. My nice pouch now has a burn mark where the straighteners fell over and the material stuck to the hot plates. It was easy to clear off though. I must invest in a heat proof mat to rest the straighteners on.
As a novice I have been quite overwhelmed by the amount of heat defence sprays, gels etc on the market. If anyone else is looking for a spray you can use on wet and dry hair before straightening I'd recommend ghd Thermal Protecto For Normal-fine Hair 150ml Lots of sprays/gels on the market are for use on damp hair only but you can use this on wet and dry hair.
