A handsome looking machine to let loose on one's flesh I thought at first use and still think so some dozens of shaves later. Fits in the hand well and the three cutting heads offer an impressively large shaving area and don`t forget the rather clever pivoting head. The countdown timer is a neat addition, too. I was a bit skeptical about this because I expected, as it got down to just a few minutes remaining, the motor would get noticeably slower, as it did with my previous Remington (the MS2291) but at zero minutes it seemed to be going strong. However as this is a rechargeable unit the internal battery will wear out even allowing for the twice yearly complete discharge. My prediction is that the battery will last about four years with normal daily use.
This is the first shaver that I've used that has a hinged cutting head. Normally I would remove the whole thing for cleaning but as this shaver can be cleaned under a tap the head flips open to a right angle. The head can be removed though by gently pulling it out of its housing. Incidentally the replacement cost for the three cutters and plastic fixing part is about £30.
The R8150 gives an excellent shave but not necessarily a quick one. My Remington MS2291 beats it hands down for a fast smooth finish. I can't see how rotary heads can cut quicker than foil ones. I'm assuming that as Philips has been using rotary technology for years Remington decided to offer both types: foil and rotary and cut into Philips market share.
The unit comes with a stand/charger and it would have been helpful if this had been designed to allow it to be screwed to a wall near the bathroom shaver point outlet. Of course, it's no problem to by-pass the charger and just plug the shaver into a three-pin adapter and recharge it at any power point.

Plus points: Easy to charge up, nice stand. Good indicator showing how much shave time you have left while using in cordless mode. Very lightweight. Shaves very well and quickly (like all new shavers, you do need to give it a couple of shaves before the grain of your beard adjust to the shaver's blade shape). Particularly good on tough thick stubble. Washable head and trimmer - a very useful feature for easy maintenance.
Minus points: Not many, other than the head section does flip open a bit too easily, so be careful you don't flick it open when picking it up because you might make a mess with shaving "dust" falling out of it

Amazon Verified Purchase
After having problems with my old electric shaver, a bit slow and pulling on the hairs, I checked out the Which? report in the local library and this shaver was given a good review. Buying it from Amazon was as usual, good price, VERY easy to do, (One click and it's done). I'm very happy with it, very fast compared to my old one but one caveat, don't press too hard under the chin, it shaves very close and can easily cause a painful rash for a few hours. Just take it easy and it should be OK. I charged it up for a few hours and so far I have not charged it again so battery life is excellent. Overall, I would recommend it.
