  • For the closest shave, make sure skin is clean (free from products such as moisturisers) and dry.
  • Make sure all three rotary heads are touching the skin and are under equal pressure.
  • Use short, circular movements to tackle more stubborn areas like the chin, for a smoother result.

I purchased another Remington razor about 5 years ago, but it no longer works quite as well as it once did. I did purchase a similar style of razor elsewhere, not a Remington, and it is quite useless for more than a day's beard growth. Hence the decision to buy another razor. I opted for the 'Diamond steel' cutters offered by this and its fast 90 minute charge, after the initial 24 hour charge.

The razor does appear to shave closer than the older Remington and is quite fast in use. It is considerably quieter than the older model and can be rinsed under a tap to clean the heads. Unlike the older model which plugged directly into a razor socket, this employs a power block type plug which is inherently bulkier. A soft, fabric bag is provided which is large enough to hold the razor and brush(provided) but not the power lead or charge/storage base. Should you need to use a shaver adapter, as I often have to when travelling, this is a further item that will not fit the storage bag. The older Remington hase a zipped case that holds the razor, power lead and everything else provided with enough space to accomodate a shaver adapter. Because of this penny-pinching, I have down-scored this by a star.

Whilst there is a protective cover for the head, it is fiddly to fit, does not always engage correctly and all too easily dislodged. The older model has a cover that positively engages 100% of the time and is not easily dislodged accidentally. For this design fault I have deducted a second star. The razor itself deserves 5 stars.

I purchased this razor for half price from a high street store and thought I was getting a bargain. Little did I realise that amazon were selling it for the same price. This razor gives an excellent shave and comes with a convenient charging stand. Unlike some other models you did not have to waste money and time on cleaning baths and conditioning lotions. This razor shaves close and smooth without the gimmicks.

This is my husbanda's 2nd remington shaver. The first was the R730I and he was really happy with that.He likes the R7130 -improvements on the design and technically sound but he misses the COMFORT SELECT that featured on R730I.If this new shaver had this option he would have given 5 stars

First things first, all electric shavers will miss hairs, if you want a totally clean shave then a wet razor is the only way to go. So why ever bother with an electric ? Less irritation, less mess and no need to stare at yourself in the mirror while shaving.
I have three shavers at present, the top of the range Remmngton, top of the range Panasonic and a new Philips coolskin.

Battery life - Remmington wins hands down. It not only beats the other two, it absolutely trounces them. Panasonic being only good for 5 shaves and Philips slightly more, the Remmington will happily keep going for longer than you will ever need on say a 2 week holiday.

Irritation - it takes your skin a good month to get used to a new style of shaver and for you to get the hang of the pressure and movement of the shaver. The Remmington I have found is slightly worse than others I have tried, possibly due to the closeness of shave. Shaving powder (if you can find it) reduces this dramatically to the point of no irritation at all. The philips scores highly for this but that's to be expected as you are using moisturiser the whole time it's on. Panasonic is the happy medium.

Actual shaving finish and speed - Panasonic wins this. Very fast and very close- Remmington second, takes a while longer to get the same shave but just as close, Philips third- although a good shave, if you add on the time it takes to clean yourself of goop and hairs it takes longer and is only really worth it if you are shaving in the shower.

Build quality - Panasonic wins again - brilliant build. Remmington second the heads feel a little plasticky but the body of the shaver is solid, the stand well designed- Philips third - flimsy, lightweight and very plasticy.

Almost everything about this shaver is good. It gives a really close shave and a full hour on recharge. The trimmer is effective and I like the shape which gives a well-contoured grip. The price is also attractive for a premium razor. The problem is that the heads are *really* difficult to reinsert, either because thay have popped out spontaneously or because you have removed them for cleaning. I have just spent the best part of twenty minutes trying to wrestle a head back into place and this has happened several times before. I think this may be a design fault and may also explain why this shaver is available at a big discount. I still like the razor, but I would like it a whole lot more without this problem!

I have used all makes of electric razors, I mostly buy the top of the range, theory being it should give a better shave although in reality the next down in the series will have one less bell or whistle and will be tens of pounds cheaper.
over the years Remington shavers give me a better result than anything else.
i have a top of the range Braun currently and bought this as a travel option, this is so much better the other one does not get used except for a light source in the bathroom in the middle of the night!
closest to a wet shave than any other make (I have not tried Phillips for 10 years)but like all electrics I expect to have to replace the cutters in 9 to 12 months and usually they are around £30+
