Remington CI9532 Pearl Pro Curl Styler

I'm so sick of 'straight' hair. I wanted to try something new. So I was thinking about buying a curling tong. I saw the Remington Pearl wand, but I didn't want small tight curls so I decided against it even though I had read loads of great reviews about it. Then a few weeks later I came across this product! Extremely similar to the wand only it had a bigger barrel for bigger curls. I couldn't find any reviews on it, because it was a brand new product so I took the risk and bought it.

I got into the car and I opened them because I wanted to see them straight away. They were in a box and in the box was loads of plastic packaging. Finally when I opened it all I saw the curling tongs. I was really pleased with them they looked great. They also came with a shiny pouch (heat resistant) thing, and a black glove which was right handed. I'm left handed. I put it all away and thought I'll give them a go when I have chance to. My hair is very thick and just over shoulder legnth.

A few days later I was bored so I thought I'd give them a try. I turned them on and turned them up to maximum heat which was 210'c. The display is digital. There are 3 buttons on it. 'On/Off', '+' and '-'. You have to hold the on/off button in a few seconds to turn it on and off. The '+' button turns the temperature up and the '-' button turns it down. And the '-' also locks the buttons if you hold it in for a few seconds. That way you wont accidently touch the buttons while your doing your hair. A 'lock' icon comes up on the display so you know when its on.

So once they had heated up which took just over a minute. I tried these out. I put some of my hair up in clips and then tried to curl some of my hair. Its really difficult because you catch your hand all the time on the tongs when your trying to do your own hair. So I put the glove on and tried it then. It is slightly better but then you can get your hair properly. So its a bit annoying. In the booklet that came with the tongs it says to hold you hair in place on the tongs for 10 seconds. Even with the glove on this is difficult because it isn't completely burn proof! I ended up giving up on my own hair.

That same week I took these round to my mums and did her hair. I found it much easier to do someone else's hair. She was really pleased with how it turned out. I didn't use hair spray and the curls stayed in all day. If only I had someone I trusted enough to do my hair then that would be great. Unfortunately I think these were a waste of money unless I learn how to use them.

These are a great product but unfortunately I cant use them. So I would only buy them if you know you can manage doing your own hair.

I've tried many curling tongs and wands over the years, but so far this is only so-so.

My hair is halfway down my back and I do like to put my hair in loose waves on occasion but this really disappointed me. Perhaps I don't have the same fine textured perfectly sleek non-split end hair like some of the Jennifer Aniston hair types who use this and have no problems, but I just found it to be awkward. My experience was that the curls fell out almost immediately (even with the technique of holding them up for a minute or so during the cool before letting the hair go).

In comparison to the conical wand I already had (also Remington Pearl Pro) this really didn't live up to what I hoped it would. The curls from the conical wand (which is the same temperature, but a different shape) stay in loosely and look superb, lasting for hours (sometimes two days).

Will mention that unlike the Conical wand by Remington, this one came with a glove (although no sectioning clips or heat protective serum samples). The glove can be tricky to use as it makes it hard to grab sections of hair (feels like nylon, and by the way, you can feel heat intensely through the glove too, so I'm still a little wary of the use of it in general).

Someone on another review mentioned their glove was right handed only therefore no good for lefties. I actually hold the wand in my right hand and use my left to curl the hair and was able to put the glove on my left hand too without any issues - perhaps we both received different gloves (maybe the product was changed slightly) so this could vary.

Couldn't be more let down with this product, save your money and buy BaByliss-Curl and press, it's great.
The only way it got a star was it is nice looking and feels good quality, comes with a stylish heatproof pouch, it was such a massive disapointment to use, such a shame with a good make like Remington.
The curler was used on another family member so that was easier, it would be very hard to do for yourself, and yet even doing the curls for someone else the styler was not effective, it was used on long, light hair - little to no curl was made and would drop out instantly, it simply did not do the job at all, was completely useless at its job. Big disapointment from Remington and would be a waste of a lot of peoples money I think.
