The author, Susan Perry Ph.D, is the editor-in-chief of the magazine entitled 'Aikido Today'. This is recognised as an international magazine, started in 1987 by Perry. Susan Perry has been practicing Aikido since 1978 and at the time of pbluication (2002), Perry held a 5th Dan Blackbelt. This book is beautifully designed. Considering its scope, it is not over-powering, but never fails to educate and enlighten. The Hardback (2002) edition contains 135 numbered pages. The book is logically presented and separated into for parts:

1) First Meeting.
2) Training.
3) Daily Living.
4) Art of Peace.

The book also contains a Forward an Introduction and a glossary, as well as a list of contributors. Perry has gathered together testimony from 31 people, both Western and Eastern, who share their memories of meeting and training with Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969). Through his mastery of 'ki' - that is universal energy - this outstanding humanbeing created a system of expression he termed 'Aikido', or 'Harmonious-energy-way'. Before his passing, master Ueshiba was filmed, and those films will give the average reader an idea of his extraordinary skill and presence. The stories told here are compelling and inspiring. Any person on a spiritual journey will benefit from this book, and anyone practicing any traditional martial art, will find themselves lifted to another level practice by Ueshiba's wisdom. He said:

'The secret of Aikido
is not in how you move your feet,
it is how you move your mind.
I'm not teaching you martial techniques,
I'm teaching you nonviolence.'

This book is perfect.
