(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
another audio story telling a new adventure for sapphire and steel, two mysterious beings who protect reality from things that want to break into it from outside. This story runs for just over 120 minutes and is in four episodes, each slightly longer than twenty five minutes, and is spread over two cd's. There's also a trailer for the next one in the series at the start of the last track on disc two.

this story involves the pair visiting an old run down pier where an aged comedian who has fallen into obscurity is being interviewed about his past. when things get very strange on the pier, sapphire and steel have to contend with a deadly threat to the human race. and the sheer power that the threat possesses...

This is an excellent story, and not one you will forget in a hurry. It's a very clever plot, presenting a threat to the two main characters of the like they've never come up against before. This results in some very clever writing, which you do need to concentrate on to get the most out of it, but it really is very well done. The small cast of five are superb, particularly david horovitch who turns in a stunning performance that requires him to do a lot of different voices.

And the last part makes some good philosphical points, without overegging them. The last couple of scenes are powerful drama, and you won't forget them in a hurry because of that.

With the final track containing the trailer, do not switch the cd off once the trailer has finished. let it play itself out. you'll thank me for it. although this will make more sense to regular listeners of this range than casual ones.

a really good audio. I will remember it
