One of my favourite electronic, electronica, idm, whatever you want to call it, albums for a long time. Gasman chris reeves has a unique sound all his own. By using segments of classical music drenched in reverb and marrying this with a penchant for sequenced "rave" type riffs it really sounds like nothing else. Buy it you wont be disappointed.

I heard a few gasman tracks a while back which were of his cut up classical music kind and liked them a lot. It took me ages to get around to actually buying one of his cd's and it's ace!

I was quite surprised at the dominant rave style of Remedial as I was expecting more of the ambient classical pieces - there's quite a bit of that on here too which is as bonkers as the rave.

I find the album really quite amusing for some reason - there's one track (think it's track 4 derbac) which has this really garrish 90's rave style piano sound on it which kind of makes you want to dig out the white gloves and whistle yet at the same time sounds like nostalgic seaside holidays. It's very tongue in cheek with out taking the piss.

I have to say track 5's a blinder. It illustrates Gasman's ability to take a really simple bassline and repeat it for 5 minutes or so yet it never feels repetitious and just sort of gets into your brain in a really friendly way. remarkable.

This is a great and varied collection of tunes from Mr Reeves. The standout tracks,'pyloric' (wonky Boards of Canada synths and military drums) and 'auto-accomp. section' (an almost ten minute many-layered electronica epic), in themselves make this a must have cd. While tracks such as 'derbac' and 'neuro feedback', embody what was to become the classic Gasman sound. A hauntingly beautiful album and a very strong debut.
