I've grown up on these series of books and enjoyed them to varying degrees. I haven't read many recently but several of Penny Jordan's previous books are firm favourites. All the usual elements of mega rich alpha male verses unimpressed independant female were present and correct. Boy meets Girl, deny they are sexually attracted to each other for most of the book, confusion, confrontation and tension ensue until said attraction is acted on. I did like her characters detailed backstory albeit ramped up to melodrama and use of coincidence - in keeping with M&B and her focus on emotion, reasons for actions, etc. This isn't one of Penny Jordan's best, but it did the job of pleasantly passing the time. Having read a spoiler ridden review of the second part: The Dutiful Wife, I don't feel any added incentive to read it and continue the story, primarily as not that invested in the two lead characters. As it's fairly obvious where the plot is being prodded to. All that said, for £1 it's not a waste of time or money.
