Product Description

Review

It contains some excellent evaluation of the theories and philosophies. These are very clearly explained to ensure a full understanding by students (and teachers!). I believe these books to be highly suitable for the intended readership; students would almost definitely come away from reading these books with a clearer understanding of the philosphy of religion. 5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate text-book for Philosophy Students! 14 Dec 2001
By Benjii
Format:Paperback
This book is a Must-Have for all & I mean all philosophy/Theology students!
Having recently just sat my exams in AS Theology & being in the middle of the A2 course, this book was and still is the indispensible/definitive book for my studies! It can be used as a text-book or/& as I did as a revision book.
I assure you that it it will the best few pounds you ever invest!!!
It explains and explores the five classical arguments for the existence of God in an a coherant and understandable manner. (it even made me understand the Ontological argument easily!)
Then it explores in later chapters the Problem of Evil, the Mind & Body distinction, Life after Death and Religious Language. What makes this book unique is that it makes philosophy fun, yes FUN!
It claims to be an 'access to philosophy' (the series' name) and by using clear paragraphs, bullet points, 'Key Points', summary pages and concise/relevant quotes it certainly succeeds!
Please if you want to get an 'A' your first step is to buy this!
Enjoy.

Gives you all the technical terminology used (often by philosophy students to win arguments over less studied people) in Philosophy and a good overview of the arguments used to provide reasoned arguments for religion / God.

The good thing about this book is it doesnt take it for granted you are a believer or a non-believer it simply....as it should be, sets out the arguments and explains the nature of the arguments. Far better than other biased apologetics or any anti religion book.

Wont change your deeply held prejudices but at least helps you understand where people are coming from.
