Unusually for a Floyd output this is not a concept album but more a collection of singles, though as far as I am aware the excellent Arnold Layne was the only success on that score.

A very early album (and the first of theirs I ever bought) it has stood the test of time. It is a lyrical, fun, disturbing, mellow and haunting collection that I still - after many years - regularly listen too.

If you only like easy listening pop you won't find this very accessible, otherwise it would make a great addition to your collection.

..The tracks on Relics are a blend of so many facets of the times in which they were written.The album moves confidently between Floyd , in extremis,the Incredible String band,what to do when you 're in Wales without a commune and a little bit of Hunter S Thompson.Excellent for nostalgia,practically their most novel album.Lie down.light one up and check the stars....possibly better than Dark Side of the moon
