1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed... 18 April 2014

Official Formula One games are very hard to come across as they are rarely made. The only one I remember was F1 2009, but that was only for iOS devices, which was very unfortunate. Now though, a new official Formula One game has been released called F1 Challenge. Will it live up to the high expectations though?

[Just to point things out, this game is based on the 2012 Formula One season.]

The menu in the game is simple to navigate, with the menu on the left for settings, in-app purchases and music on/off etc. and the menu on the bottom to select the teams in which you can select your desired challenge. Once you the desired team, you have to select the challenges. Unfortunately, most of the challenges are locked and require you to pay money to unlock challenges in a game that already costs quite a lot (in app terms).

When you start a challenge, you will notice a very striking resemblance to F1 Online (which is actually quite a fun game to play). There are only 2 sets of controls: Sliding your finger along the right side of the screen to steer your car and tapping the left side of the screen to use KERS. Unfortunately, these controls cannot be changed. As the player, you can only see a strip of track which rotates around after turns. You also see the AI drivers and bits of grass and run off areas. The level of graphical detail in the game itself isn't very high and the sounds seem very dull. As a gamer, you would want to be in full control of what you're doing, right? Wrong! In this game, the game automatically accelerates and decelerates when it gets to a certain point before a corner. You would need to have prepared very early to steer in or react quickly to be able to turn into tight hairpins.

This game is a very big disappointment.

It's fun until you meet all the challenges - then what? The other players scores seem to indicate you can redo a challenge but I don't see it. So it's boring after that. And the number of circuits is pretty limited. The worst part is unlocking "features" is a meaningless waste of money.

I've sat here for hours playing although I still can't play it that we'll but I won't give up yet. I've been playing for about half a year I will keep playing until I've completed it. well done f1 you have done it again. Go on the button and Hamilton, although louts is my favourite car. Go on you england hero's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hoping people enjoy it cos I do and always will do anyhow you should just try it for your self and tell everyone about it. You will like it if you love your f1 games but people who don't like f1 would still like it. The way you play it, it's birds eye view. The way you go round corners you have to turn really weirdly but once you get used to it, it's easier then ridding a bike thanks for taking the time out to read this. Probably boring the crap out of you now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once you play why not add a review so it's got every body's thoughts down here. So we can get more people geting this game. Because I think I'm the only one stuped snuff to write so God dam much about a brilliant game plus I was bored and fancied typing about something ps up the hammers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars very average 11 Jan 2014

As a f1 fan, couldn't wait to download once I saw it, but for the money it is poor. It's starts great with all the graphics and sound as you would expect but once you actually start playing its like a game from 10+ years ago, the only view is from above with very narrow circuits and very limited controls, so going off is a given. Overall you play it twice then give up as you feel what's the point, if I could have my money back I would
