No one ever wants to hear it. Ever. According to that other great stand-up Lenny Bruce, it is when society makes attempts to silence the whackos that they are most needed. Bill Hicks was not silenced deliberately but the emptiness that followed his departure has never been filled.
Hicks has it in for everythingg. America's moral values, the family, racism, prejudice, the limits of liberality, democracy, religion, tolerance, and justice.
For those who have never heard Bill Hicks before, be warned - this surgeon with a scalpel for false values will make you laugh, but you'll choke on your laughter. Hicks was both a martyr and a prophet, and in a world of many philosphers and too few prophets we would do well to learn from him.

Bill Hicks' monumental live show commited to tape and one of the best of his rants...sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll. A dame fine voice for all those who are annoyed by the world and what it shoves down our throat.
