Book Description

1 Nov 2011
For the most part, we could do a far better job of relating to other people. This refreshing book shows you how. The ability to relate to other people is the most critical skill a person can ever have-at work, at home, or anywhere else-and strong relationship skills simply make everything else easier. "Relationship Mastery: A Business Professional's Guide" provides a reliable route to success you can apply over and over to improve your life in every area. Drawing on practical psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), ancient wisdom, and first-hand experience of organizational life at all levels, David Fraser, PhD, reveals his powerful, systematic formula for transforming your results with people-as used by the best in the business. Packed with real-life examples and practical, tried-and-tested steps to take, "Relationship Mastery" will help you win more business, keep your job or get a better one, connect with people quickly and easily in a lasting way, collaborate effectively, resolve disputes, handle conflict with ease, be confident and resourceful with people, and enjoy your relationships at home. Some books claim they will change your life. With this one it's true. In his "very positive, helpful and enlightening" and ultimately "profound" book, the author sets out the 12 essential areas of interpersonal insight and growth: (1) Attention to others, (2) Attitude, (3) Self-control, (4) Tuning in to people, (5) Personality, (6) Connection, (7) Values (8) Language, (9) Self-awareness, (10) Attention to yourself, (11) Balance, and (12) Love. The author includes with honesty a flavor of his own learning journey, and in the words of his readers, the result is "accessible and relevant," "simply fascinating stuff," and "very easy and interesting to read." "This book will cause your career to skyrocket, help you resolve more conflicts, and live a fuller and richer life in every way." Wayne Hurlbert, business blogger and radio show host About the Author: David Fraser, PhD, is a leading authority on relationship skills in professional and personal life. He is a business owner, chartered engineer, certified mediator, NLP master practitioner, and family man.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must-have book 19 Nov 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Relationship Mastery

I have really found Relationship Mastery simple to read with great tips to use. I love the before and after pages that summarise how we can positively move forward with relationships, using the techniques in the book.

I first read the book straight through over a few days and used highlighters and pens to scribble all over the key parts for me. Relationship Mastery is one of those practical books I keep picking up when I need some inspiration on improving my ability to manage a particular situation.

Over the years I have attended many courses covering topics such as NLP, body language, twice completed Myers Brigs personality type MBTI and also completed the VAK learning styles assessment. I have learned to use peripheral vision and meditation and many more techniques. Why David's book has been so great for me is it has pulled all these different modalities together in a simple and usable way. While reading this book I have had several Aha moments! This is a book I can now pick up and dip into quickly to support me in my dealings with other people.

Relationship Mastery is a book that is of equal benefit to someone like me who has attended many courses or equally you may be starting out and looking for techniques to use to improve your personal or work relationships. Either way this is a must-have book. My copy seems to have found its way to the shelf with my frequently used cook books and in the short time I have had my copy, it's looking well used!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read 15 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
David Fraser's passion to share his deep experiences of what he's learned about getting on with people, whether it's at work, at home, with friends, or even with people we don't much like makes compelling reading. His practical approach, straight forward style and use of personal examples makes this a very accessible read. Fraser asserts that most personal development training which focuses on ourselves means we will never get beyond the surface and ultimately won't get what we need. His book is different; it focuses on relating well to others in order to meet our own needs. A simple, yet powerful message, and one that we don't often think of. I found the clarity of writing outstanding and do believe that by following the stepped approach laid down in this book we can all be successful in all our relationships. Whether you are new to the material or not, you will learn something from this book and enjoy reading it at the same time. A rival to Dale Carnegie!
