Rejoice is the 5th studio album (excluding imports which are largely the same as the UK versions) by Katherine Jenkins. The album stands apart from its predecessors for two reasons: Katherine's new image, and the style of music represented on this latest release.

Firstly the image. Gone is the girl next door look (`Premiere' album cover) to be replaced, thanks to the photographic skills of `Rankin', with an appearance that now does her full justice, as anyone who has seen her live or on TV will probably agree. The cover and sleeve booklet images are in a league above anything seen on her previous albums.

Also, the front cover does show a striking resemblance to Andrea Bocelli's `Sacred Arias' 2002 album, notably with the lack of eye contact and similar smile, and this I think can only be regarded as a compliment to Bocelli. (Incidentally, the 35 x 35cm poster included with the limited edition CD version is from the same photo session as the cover, but this time with eye to camera contact).

Second is the style of music, which is a diversion from that of the previous albums. Until now the song choice has been predominantly classical, opera and traditional mixed with some popular pieces. This time it's completely reversed, with the majority of the album consisting of (relatively) modern popular music, including many songs written specifically for this album.

The new songs such as the title track `Rejoice', `How do you leave the one you love', and `I will Pray For You' are romantic ballads by Steve Mac and Wayne Hector (Westlife, Il Divo, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson songwriters). Other new compositions like `Shout in Silence' and `Viva Tonight' are contributions by Gary Barlow of Take That.

Only a few tracks are in the public domain yet, 'Rejoice' is a simply beautiful song with a stunning video.

I heard Katherine perform 'Requiem for a Soldier' at Margam Park this summer.

Katherine's version of the Italian song 'Uno dei tanti' better known as Shirley Bassey's 'I Who Have Nothing' has taken on a new lease of life.

'Secret Love' which I heard for the first time tonight on the Amazon video above is also magnificent.
'
Sancta Maria' is lovely track which can be previewed on Katherine's UCJ home page

I wholeheartedly recommend 'Rejoice', November 19th can't come soon enough for me, this is a classic CD.

Rejoice: Deluxe Edition (Poster & Booklet) is surely worth the extra if 'Living A Dream' Deluxe editon is anything to go by.

I Could Have Danced All Night and Green Green Grass Of Home (Live) are excellent extra tracks

Another track premiered in the Ken Bruce Show on Radio 2 today, the very beautiful 'Shout In Silence'

This album is the deluxe edition of Katherine Jenkins' 5th album.
In addition to the standard edition, this album contains 2 extra songs, a booklet and a poster.
Because I reviewed the standard edition of this album and awarded it 5 stars, I can only award to this deluxe edition 5 stars plus!
Highly recommended!

I first saw Miss Jenkins on TV in a brief clip in which she sang Saint Saens',"Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta vox",("Softly awakes my heart") and I remember thinking, "Now THAT'S Delilah! ". Since then I have collected every CD that she has produced, saw her on stage during her Australian Tour and generally been a devoted fan. And judging by the inevitably gushing reviews that her work attracts ,I am certainly not alone.

This CD will not disappoint her admirers, and can unreservedly be recommended.

Miss Jenkins' management is obviously very astute and the musical arrangements are always excellent. Her voice has a richness and clarity which reminds me, at times, of Australia's Yvonne Kenny- and that's praise indeed.

The downside ? Miss Jenkins is at her best with broad, sustained melodies that allow her to use her voice to its optimum. The tracks which do not permit this are of far lesser quality that those that do-"throttling back" does not suit her. Thus, the highlight of this CD , for me, is where Katherine sings Sibelius ("Be Still My Soul"). Also, particularly good is her rendering of the Shirley Bassey favourite, "I- who have nothing" and she out- Doris' Doris Day, in "Once ,I had a Secret Love".

I see that one reviwer cites Miss Jenkins as the U.K.'s best mezzo-soprano. I don't know about that- may we hear her sing "I dreamt I dwelt", or Elgar's "Sea Pictures"- sustained melodies again- and we will see.
( NB HWYL:- good spirits, enthusism- I am of Welsh background too!)

Katherine's 5th album, sees a departure in her style from her previous albums, but boy what an excellent CD this is.

This album sees, Katherine singing some songs that have been specially written for her as well as the more expected content of classical pieces.

Her voice, continues to develop which is wonderful in view of this being the fifth album.

I particularly like the title track 'Rejoice' and also Katherine's version of the Seal track 'Kiss from a Rose' is brilliant.

Overall, I would recommend this CD without doubt, it is simply magnificent!
