Product Description

2013 release, the debut Reggae/Dancehall album from the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg. Reincarnated chronicles Snoop Dogg's spiritual journey to Snoop Lion that grew from his recent trip to the island - where the Jamaican people and culture positively affected him. "(Producer) Major Lazer and I had a special opportunity to focus on recording Reincarnated from top-to-bottom with no interruptions in Jamaica. From my time spent with the people and in the streets, these songs are based on peace, love, and the struggle." said Snoop Lion. The album features such artists as Grammy Award-winners Drake, Chris Brown and T.I., rapper Busta Rhymes, Akon, U.K. singing star Rita Ora, as well as dancehall stars Popcaan and Mavado and others.

I live on a tropical island in the South China Sea and don't worry about modern day hassle. Me and the D O G go back way back to Year 8 when I was 'slanging' badly copied tapes of doggystyle to the younger kids because he swore. Being honest that's how most people started with gangsta rap. Anyhow a few degrees later (thanks student loans) as an older man who has grown up and followed a path of peace, love and unity in a warm place away from the stress of the city, its nice to see Snoop Lion evolve to the same spot. At first I thought it was a commercial sell out thing, then I saw the accompanying documentary with Daz and Snoop in Jamrock.

I'm not to sure I'm down with J'ah and all that ethopia noise but for sure, life in Babylon sucks, spirituality is the way and on and on it goes to the tick tock of the universal clock. Dunno if anyone buys music anymore but Snoop almost deserves you to because this album goes hard from start to finish. Its about redemption. knowledge and peace. So listen up and roll one up!

P.S Collie Budz rocks and so does Alberoise!

Ok, if you are a fan of Snoop Dog and his usual style of music - and you hate reggae - this is NOT for you. Move along, nothing to see here. Or hear here. But if, like me, you enjoy reggae then this album is a delight from start to finish. Delicious rhythms, catchy choruses and some wonderfully clever collaborations sees Mr Snoop heading in a whole new direction. An album with no 'parental guidance' warning sticker, just lovely fresh summery songs which just might lead Snoop-Dog fans prepared to give it a go to the more traditional masters like Toots and Mytells and Bob Marley.

For hardcore Snoop Dog fans I suppose this is the equivalent of Tu-Pac and Biggie having a hug, pulling on their snowflake jumpers and recording an album of Christmas Classics like 'Chestnuts Roasting' complete with jingle bells and childrens choirs, because it's the stuff their Grannies like. But, IMO, any artist wanting to try a new direction should be encouraged. If, as I said, you cannot stand reggae from ANYONE, then avoid. But if you like it, this is a wonderful addition to any CD collection.

Loved the new style and sound of Snoop. Love reggae and loved Snoop Dogg, only now the language is not offensive so the whole family and guests can listen along.

Bargain for the whole album indeed.

Album co produced by Snoop & Major Lazer.
It's def' not like other Snoop Dogg albums, (I hated Snoop Dogg & Dre stuff) but more of a reggae with hip hop elements crossover, but leaning more to the reggae style.
Snoop Lion is the reincarnation of Snoop Dogg & oh boy is he on top form here in my opinion.

Contributions from: Mr Vegas, Akon, Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus, Drake, Busta Rhymes, Chris Brown & others too on various songs.

I guess though hip-hop fans and reggae heads may hate this cd being neither pure reggae or pure hip-hop.
I loved it though.

Give it a chance, you might too.

What's surprising about this is how few actual reggae performers are on it. Snoop, a rapper, decides to make a reggae album, so who does he recruit to help him? Major Lazer aka Diplo who is himself a dilettante dabbling in reggae, pop producer Ariel Rechtshaid, Angela Hunte who wrote Empire State of Mind, Akon, Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus... the list reads like a satire of a stab at a reggae album.

But the funny thing is, it's pretty good. I believe Snoop and his collaborators are sincere about their love of reggae, so this boils down to talented people making music they love: what's not to like? It's a bit like British bands making ska in the 70s - they weren't trying to be authentic, they just wanted to entertain themselves and other people. Nothing wrong with that.

Some of the tracks are a bit of a chore (Fruit Juice step forward) but overall the album is likable, enjoyable and endearingly silly. If you just want a taste, So Long, La La La and Torn Apart probably show it in the best light.
