This book is very weak and it seems as if the author quickly clobbered it together to either meet deadlines or to let it ride on the success of the previous 2 Martin Vail stories. I have been put off of it by friends, but finally decided to give it a go and was appalled at the drop in standards. The plot was implausible and predictable. The subplots convoluted The book only made sense if you read Reign in Hell and Show of Evil... as the characters were not developed on its own. This story also drew greatly from the scene set in other stories. The plot also decended into unnecessary sentamentality.
I would only recommend this book to someone that has read the 2 previous books and as a holiday read ...

A great read yet weaker than the mighty 'Show of Evil'. I am a sucker for the heroics of Martin Vail and this book is no exception. I recommend only if you have read the first two prequels.

The series of stories with Martin Vail are brilliant. I see this is only a penny for a used copy on Amazon. It will be the best penny you ever spent. As with the previous reviewer, you need to read the two prequel books before you read this. I have loaned my copy to everyone I know and they all that it was brilliant as well.
Highly recommend and keeps you going right to the end. It's really not over until the last page.
