Falling somewhere between Long Beach comrades Domino and Snoop on the pop-R&B-rap continuum, Warren is at his best when his catchy soul melodies get equal time with his rhymes to create a radio friendly groove that's virtually unshakable once planted in your head. While not every song is as memorable, Regulate boasts at least two hip-hop classics: The shuffle beat bliss "This Is the Shack", and the title cut, featuring Michael McDonald's icy keyboard lick and partner Nate Dogg's gorgeous singing, destined to be the standout single of the year. G-Funk Era is a MUST BUY CD for any fans of dope & meaningful lyrics, funky, smooth beats and ill and classy production. For anyone looking for something fresh, original or as a departure from the mountains of identical rap out there, do yourself a favour. BUY THIS!

It depends if you like slow or fast rap to like this! If you like slow then you will love this! The first tune "regulate" is by far one of the best tunes on the album! "Recognize" and "Super Soul Sis" are good tunes! Everyone of the tunes in this album have got a mellow melody to it, and thats the good thing about! The beats are out of this world too! "This D.J" and "What's next" are ones to look out for! I recommend the tune "And you dont stop" It makes you really listen to the tune! The disappointing one is "Do you see"! I dont think it is a standards with the other tunes!

G Funk is probably my favourite variant of the rap genre. Warren G produces this class, flawless album in the mid 90's and you can still feel the coolness ten years on. Regulate, the first track, is fantastic...the smooth beat continues throughout the whole album and although the lyrics aren't 100%, you must remember that this is not what G Funk is about. Without this album, Tha Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg and such would not have the style they do today. Warren's smooth voice floats over track after track and compliments each one superbly. If you're not a big fan of NWA, Xzibit or 50 Cent then I suggest you give this a listen and watch yourself groove along!
This album re-defines the word "cool" and takes it further, the English Language cannot express how funky yet smooth this album is. Go buy it now and waste no more time.
