Product Description

German comedy exploring the complexities of modern relationships, both straight and gay. Christoph (Christoph M. Ohrt) is a tough cop who has just been thrown out by his fiancée and decides to get drunk. Waking up the next day in the arms of gay mechanic Edgar (Tim Bergmann), Christoph can't remember the events of the previous night and is horrified to think that he might have slept with another man. Although confused, Christoph still takes up Edgar's offer to move in with him, as having been thrown out by his fiancée he's now homeless. When his new living arrangements fuel gossip and speculation around the police station, Christoph's friends are forced to re-evaluate their ideas about sexuality and relationships.

Easily one of the best 'gay interest' funny/amusing films I have seen. Watched it several times and still enjoying it. ;o)

Role-reversals overlaid with misinterpretations lead to a really amusing film, the only down side being focusing on the English sub-text to appreciate the dialogue.

The film begins with the straight male cop being dumped and is subjected to a series of faux pas / disasters while getting drunk, which sets the scene for this quick-witted film.

Waking up nude in bed with a gay car mechanic, he wonders 'what happened last night...?' - the mechanic isn't telling!

Reluctantly the straight police inspector (= uk detective) is forced (due to housing shortage) to lodge with the (sloppy) car mechanic, and the mis-understandings heat up!

The later nude shared bath scene is touching.

Now I wish I knew German.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm feelings on a cold night 4 Jan 2008
By KJ
Format:DVD
I approached this film with some trepidation as I've more or less given up on duff gaysploitation movies just out to collect the pink pound (vis Slutty Summer, Another Gay Movie etc) but it had been recommended by a friend I trust. I found it heartwarming and well worth the effort. Cute guys made it easy to watch too! Yes, the plot stetches plausabilty but it made a cold night pass pleasurably for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge the book by its cover 23 Sep 2006

I completely fell in love with this film since the first time I saw it. The characters are so subtle and witty. The actor, Christoph M. Ohrt is so handsome and funny in the film. The music in the film are also very good. I can't wait to have a sountrack CD of this film. The theme piano score is composed by Peter Schmitt and it is incredibly beautiful. It is definitely a feel good movie and I really enjoyed this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the cover
I can understand why the cover picture was chosen but ignore it as it adds nothing to the film at all. In fact it detracts from an otherwise well acted, well delivered film. Read more

"Regular Guys" is a delight to watch. It may not be mind blowing, but it is a well executed comedy with some clever use of gay prejudices. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great German Film
This film has great comedic moments. It tells an intriguing tale. The acting is great. The direction and editing is great. If only there was a sequel to find out what happens next!
