The mistake I made was buying budget outdoor equipment. I've done it before with poor results, but for some reason I was tempted by these "waterproof" trousers - never again. So what's wrong with them? Three things:

1) They're not waterproof. They slowly leak in particularly heavy rain, and you get a wet bum on a bike in light rain.

2) They don't let moisture escape. I've scoffed at so-called 'breathable' fabrics in the past, but you get almost as wet wearing these trousers as you would if you were wearing denim. It gives me a rash on my legs after several hours' use because of the damp.

3) The (boot) ends are fixed; and by that I mean they aren't zip/buttoned. Ever tried taking off your boots whilst outside in the pouring rain to try and get your waterproof trousers on? If you cant fit them OVER your boots whilst wearing them, what's the point? I'm not going to go around all damn day in waterproofs.

So, in conclusion, I recommend going to an outdoor store (Millets, Blacks, Tiso etc) amd talking with a member of staff. Get some good quality trousers that fit; and make sure you can get them on whilst wearing your footwear of choice. If you buy cheap, you buy twice!

I ordered a pair of these Overtrousers as with having two pet pigs and always having wet and muddy trousers after it has rained after feeding them, wanted a fail safe way of keeping my bottom half not only dry but also clean.

I am a size 6/8 and only 5ft 2 tall so ordered a size small, was thinking that the waist might be adjustable (pull cord or something) but they are not. However a nice fit over other trousers, but then again that is what they are might for, over your normal clothes/trousers.

I did have a pair of overalls but found them to be a bit of a pain to put on and off quickly, these overtrousers are just job. Easy to pull on and take off with ease.

Length wise a great fit, I tend to wear mine inside my wellies rather than over, (would be nibbled if not by my two). There are two fastens on the bottom of the legs though to adjust the leg width at the bottom, good if wearing over boots or wellies.

Just the job for myself, am now looking at getting some for our son, as fed up with his jeans always being caked in mud from the girls too.

Not a bad price either and at least now I can keep my legs dry, clean and able to pop out to do the school run safe in the knowledge that I am not going out with my legs covered in mud from the girls.

Aug 2013 and these are still going strong and worn whenever it is wet enough for them to be worn. Really have saved a fortune with these, as no longer having to use so much wash powder as jeans not covered in caked dried in mud from the girls. Winter and summer time they get plenty of use (summer tends to be when the girls wallow and then shake). At least the bottom half stays clean, the body and face another story. Could be their way of making sure you get a face pack...

Bought these to stick in the bottom of my rucksack in case I got caught out in heavy rain on my cycle commute. The button fastening for the ankles funnels water into your socks which is far from ideal... I realise that they aren't made of a breathable fabric but the condensation is horrendous - a not too strenuous 8 mile commute gets me soaked with condensation from the inside of the trousers, I no longer wear them unless it's really tipping it down. If you're aware of the shortfalls then I suppose they are cheap, they are effectively toughened bin bags shaped like trousers though.

I bought two pairs of these. One was for my son's Duke of Edinburgh weekend hike and camping and the other for myself for a golf weekend. They arrived very quickly. Wore them for a 5 hour round of golf in heavy rain and they were completely waterproof and performed very well. The other good thing is that there are side pocket openings so you can get into your own pockets. I used to have more expensive waterproof trousers that didnt do this. My son also found his perfect for his DOE hike in heavy rain. Tremendous value for the money.

these over trousers are great if you are not expecting too much, I used them whist quad biking to keep the mud off, but they are not breathable at all but then again you cant expect much from trousers this cheap. basically they are cheap and waterproof but not breathable.

They're a great set of overtrousers for my long distance hiking: however I have a complaint! They don't fit over your boots, requiring you to take them off.

I've since modified them by making a cut and sewing a zipper onto them: but for the price I wasn't expecting anything amazing - but they certainly work, and with this modification (even sewing a few buttons onto them and then cutting them would work) thery are perfect for me!

Arrived promptly and well packaged. Lisen, these are not expensive, so don't expect the highest of quality, but they do the job just fine. First day they arrvied, I had to walk the dog and it poured down, but after 30 min of total soaking, my legs were completely dty. The only thing is, they are not 'breathable'...they can't be cos they atre plastic.
