This is such a good DVD, beautifully re-mastered and restored. The music is among McCartneys best and the soundtrack album that followed is one of my all time favorite Paul Mccartney albums. It should not be judged as a film, but more a series of music videos coupled together with some background story. True there is a storyline and it does the job to keep you entertained between the real treats (the songs), watching "Give My Regards To Broad Street over 20 years ago and again today, it still has a definate feel good factor and I just love the Eleanors Dream sequence, the music and the film is excellent dont listen to the critics!

A pleasant surprise!! 1 July 2006

I've been a McCartney fan for years without seeing Give My Regards to Broad Street. I had heard it was panned by critics on release, so I didn't bother to make the effort to get a copy in all these years. I finally got round to seeing this film for the first time recently, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Ok, the script is no masterpiece. However from a fans point of view, it's eminently watchable. I really loved watching some classic McCartney masterpeices being performed.......including Wanderlust, For No One, Ballroom Dancing and of course the films hit song, No More Lonely Nights (McCartneys last major hit single in the UK). The budget for this film was clearly fairly large.......excellent sets, costumes and decent cinematography gives the film a classy feel. At times the dialogue could be better, as could the acting and plot. But there are some respectable actors in the main roles...Bryan Brown to name but a few. So treat yourself.......you won't be disappointed!!

When this film was first released in the cinema it was slated by the critics... should Sir Paul written, starred and co-directed??? A definate No!.
However, if you are a fan of Beatle & Wings songs then you'll find some nice versions in this film... Band on the Run, Silly Love Songs, Good Day Sunshine etc. and a terrific re-vamp of Ballroom Dancing (originally on Tug of War 1982).
The storyline is a bit cheesy and hammed-up in places but harmless fun nonetheless.
If it's raining outside or there's nothing on the telly, turn up the volume and listen to some McCartney classics jumbled together with a ropey storyline.
