Good for price 14 Jun 2011
I bought this for my father as he wanted to back up his old vinyl collection. Considering he is 80 and not too technically minded, between us I got him to learn the basics of 'How to' record.

The great thing about this deck is you can record direct to MP3 via SD card. In my fathers case (we bought him an MP4 player that has a Micro SD card facility), he can then put it straight into his MP4 player by passing the need for a computer! (Altough you do need this if you want to lable the recordings/tracks.)

I was a bit disappointed with the vendors support. Basically they do not sell spare stylus's and were not able to recommend where I could get one. (Luckily another supplier on here could).
There is also an audiable 'buzzing noise' from the deck when plugged in. I spoke to the supplier and unless I returned it, we were not going forward. (I decided not to return it due to the inconvenience of staying in etc, or paying for return postage). Thankfully this noise does not affect the playback or recording quality.

Likewise, the balancer on the needle arm did not seem to assemble correctly (so it cannot be adjusted in its present state), but again, no real problems during use.
The User Instructions although in English, is a poor translation and it took me a few goes to get everthing to work.

The deck will plug directly into a combi hi fi via the 3.5mm jack, which is great.

I had to search long and hard to find the best machine for my fathers needs, but this seems to tick 9 out of 10 of the boxes. Shame the back up from the vendor is not too great.

The first sample had so much distortion and noise on the LH channel that it had to be returned. The replacement unit was distortion free but the arm was so badly made that no amount of bias correction could keep the stylus in contact with the record, even at playing weights of 9gm. This sort of performance is totally unacceptable and the unit was returned for a full refund.I could not recommend this unit to anyone, if you get a good one it may be OK but the chances appear to be very slim
