The Cateye LETS (Laser-Etched Translucent Slits) represents the state of the art in pop-up flash reflectors. These slits let a fraction of your flash's light pass directly though the reflector in a diffused manner, which fills in shadows and throws a bit of spark in your subject's eyes.
The Cateye flash reflector is the answer for those who want to take professional quality indoor photographs without the bulkiness and cost of an external flash unit. A pop-up flash alone casts harsh, direct light on your subject, whiting out faces and creating shadow halos. The Cateye works by bouncing light from your DSLR's pop-up flash off the ceiling, where it then scatters back to your subject from all directions, resulting in soft, pleasant lighting. The Cateye's slim design lets you put it in the smallest of camera bags, or even your coat pocket. Its laser-cut mirrored plexiglas construction makes it flexible and ultra-durable while weighing in at only 22g. The Cateye flash reflector comes packaged with a protective pouch.
Eckstein Engineering has found the Cateye to match the performance of external flash units for most indoor photography situations, with the extra power of an external unit giving it an edge at ranges above 3m. Not bad for a device which costs less than 10% of an external flash.

Note that the 20D and 30D are not supported by this model, but if you contact me, I can custom-make one that will do the trick.

The Cateye LETS flash reflector is a great product which I have recently evaluated with my Canon 7D DSLR camera (which has a pop-up flash). When used for indoor portrait shots the laser etched slits on the device help to give catchlights in the subject's eyes - something which is often absent on bounce flash portraits. The device weighs almost nothing and so small it is very easy to carry in my pocket or camera bag!

The Cateye Reflector is a must if you want to use the pop up flash on your DSLR. This little device simply lets you take photos with the pop up flash eliminating harsh shadows & washed out faces or red eye. I would urge anyone to buy one of these, it slips into your camera bag & takes up no room at all. Well worth the small outlay I use it all the time now.
