3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not his best by a long shot, 4 Nov 2003
By dOUGAL (Australia) - See all my reviews
when i first saw this album in the shop i didn't even hesitate to buy it, but how i wish i did. this album seams to be a slip-shod production with Paul seeming to have grab what ever spare songs he had lying around and chucking them into this CD. Half the songs are ok but the other half are something shocking with some of the songs running for under 4 minutes and been nothing but pure commerciall nonsense. This album is no where up to Pauls usual standard, although a couple of songs, mainly Crush, Nothing but you and Buenaventura save this album from pure mediocrity. If u are a die hard PvD fan like i am then u will go out and buy this simply cos it's PvD, but if u are somebody who is just starting to listen to him, buy his older halbums like 7 ways or Out there and Back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improvement overall, 26 Nov 2003
By T. SMEDLEY "terrysmedley" (Taunton UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
An album that took a little getting into, I wasn't sure whether I really liked it or not over the first few listens, compared to previous PVD efforts.
While not as immediate as Out There & Back, it doesn't rely on thumping dancefloor anthems as much, and displays a better songwritting, especially some of the tracks with Jan Johnston (Spellbound, Kaleidoscope).
There are still the 'shiver-down-the-spine' moments, as found in abundance on Seven Ways, for example, and Nothing But You is a gem.

So, a more consistant album and probably PVD's most listenable (in one session, anyway).

5.0 out of 5 stars LISTEN WITH CAUTION, 2 Mar 2004
By Giacomoni Andrea (Bagnacavallo, Ravenna Italy) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
PVD is matured a lot in this three years, "out there and back" was intended simply to make you move and feel positive energy, "reflections" goes further and wants you to think about PVD not only as a superclub dj but also as an human being. This album contains his point of view on all the most important things in life. I think that the major problem is that not all PVD's fans are enough mature.
It's evident that other reviewers where expecting "out there and back part 2", more club music with energy and not so many problems. This is not the work of a dj, it's the work of a deep thinking man, that's why is not mixed; this is the work of a man with many things to tell , that's why there are so many vocals. Stop complaining about stupid things and try to understand PVD's mind.
He's not only a dj, he is a true artist. Listen, understand, reflect...then share your opinion.
