CHOICE 'Neil Cornwell's Reference Guide to Russian Literature is an excellent tool for students and will likely become a standard reference on scholars' desks ... Cornwell has assembled scholars from around the world, and his efforts in this enormous task have yielded a most commendable result. The Reference Guide manages to contain a wide variety of voices, while maintaining a consistent level of quality and rigor. The result is an admirable achievement.' Slavic and East European Journal 'This is an excellent example of what a literary reference source should be, with clear editorial policies and a commendable presentation - an essential source for Russian studies as they are pursued today.' Managing Information 'the chief contribution of the Reference Guide to Russian Literature is the inclusion of critical essays on specific titles. These provide the reader with in-depth analysis not usually found in literary reference works.' Quite simply, there is no better encyclopaedia on Russian literature. Even though it was written in 1999, it still manages to stay relevant today as the entries are written by the most well-renowned Russian scholars from around the world, many of whom are experts on the essays they give to this book.

The price is steep but is an essential reference guide to literary movements, literary texts and authors in Russia over the last 800 years.
