As an adult amateur/recreational artist, I found this to be a sturdy, functional item at a bargain price. I don't suppose it's 'professional' grade, but then, being categorised in the 'toy' section, it isn't being purveyed as such. Other reviewers have alleged a tendency for it to collapse, but my experience is that this happens only if one neglects to tighten the adjustments adequately. It's actually much better than I would have expected for the money, especially as it's Reeves - a quality make which has been around 'forever'. I recommend it.

I bought this easel as a christmas present for my daughter.It is everything she wanted and more. This is much more than a toy, it is a serious and well priced piece of equipment that can be used as a toy. The delivery service was perfect and on time.

We shall probably never know why Van Gogh cut off his ear but I wonder if he had an easel like this?
I know it's cheap and it's in the Toy section but nevertheless...
I used it in life drawing class. It's numerous sliding collapses even raised a laugh from the stern model we have.... It must be difficult keeping in one position when watching someone's easel slide apart every 20 minutes.
She still asks after it. I think it's the entertainment value.
I admit that I am non-practical, but the woman next to me said she'd bought one too and had to give up as well.
Around five people battled this easel to make it stay in one position - including an engineer and the art tutor, but it just seemed to slide apart every time.
The difficulty seems to be that you get the legs out in position, then move a sort of lever round and round until it tightens - and the easel is supposed to stay in one firm position.
Unfortunately, half the time the twiddly lever thing ends up facing you - so you can't put the paper board on in position, due to the lever handle being in the wrong place. This is very annoying as it seems to be luck where the lever ends up.
In the end, I partly solved the problem by stapling cord to the legs and tieing it up every time ans being prepared to twiddle the lever until if finally rested in the right place.
I would suggest paying a bit more and joining the ranks of the other artists in my group, whose easels seem sublimely efficient compared to mine.
I know it's annoying - but the best of all seem to be the expensive metal ones.

Not a toy!
No idea why this is in the toys category. Good quality easel and excellent value for money. I ordered it from Italy and it arrived very promptly.
