I'm an admirer of the Jools Holland Big band and indeed big bands in general. So this stuff is right up my street - but I'm also a musician and, in my previous professional life, a trained assessor - so I'll keep this objective and unbiased .... well, almost.

Jools Hootenanny needs no introduction, and nor does the band. He has some fantastic guests and there's music from a broad spectrum of genres.

This is a really well known song and its already been a huge hit with its catchy tune and popular lyric. This particular version is excellent and the band are on fine form. It has all the exuberance and spirit that you'd expect from this band, and is cleverly arranged and very well played. it is recorded live though - some will like that but others will notice that the quality is not up to 'recording studio' standards.

So even if you're not an ardent Big band fan like me, there's still much to like!

There's a well known band of fruit flavour sweets that invite you not to chew. So try this: Look up the sample of this on the MP3 downloader and hit the play button. Now try not to tap your feet, click your fingers or sing along. Hard, isn't it?
