Book Description

25 Oct 2007
This pioneering new volume of underwater photography reveals the coral reefs of the world as you have never seen them before, through revolutionary natural-light filter photography and a marine biologist's revelatory understanding of reef life behaviour. A marine scientist by training, Alex Mustard captures the natural behaviour of marine life that many divers miss. In this remarkable volume, he unveils a life-long fascination with the real lives of reef animals. Perpetually surprising, the unique images range from reefs from all around the world, including the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Pacific, South-east Asia, Caribbean. To his peers, Alex Mustard's name has become synonymous with the new digital techniques that he has developed, and he leads the way in the use of filters in available light shooting and shooting telephoto lenses underwater.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Photographs 1 Jan 2009
By Mum
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a wonderful coffee table book, full of glossy colour photos of the undersea world. There are amazing pictures of tiny creatures and corals, interspersed with the usual shark images. I was particularly impressed with the author's introductory essay which supplies insight into why he captures the images he does and makes the reader more aware of how fragile our reef ecosystems are.
All schools should have a copy of this book in their school library.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Fish 25 Oct 2007
Format:Hardcover
I love books about fish. There is always the mystery of mermaids about where they live. The book is beautiful with pictures you can fall into. Pictures of bizarre fish, some gem like fish, some look as though they were designed by Ikea and others look hand knitted! Always very interesting.
